I can sympathize with BLM who don't want to move becuase I play BLM myself. (I move).

It doesn't make it ok to sit there and die to aoe, but BLM is punished hard for moving even a little. the class is simple enough to understand but really difficult to play well in practice in fights which require the dance.

That's one good thing they did in RDM's case, the only spells you need to stay still on is Verthunder, Verfire, Veraero, Verstone. (Not sure on the holy one and all yet, still leveling.) But with Jolt you can move around freely and it barely ever stops casting which is nice. You can link it to Scatter that is also move able to have a one two with an AoE attack.
I would of thought when the expansion dropped they would of figured a way all casters could do something like this.

Verfire and Verstone have the same cast time as Jolt, the only ones with a long cast time are Verthunder, Veraero, and Verraise.

Verholy and Verflare are insta casts tied to the end of your single target melee burst combo.

This reminds me of Larryzaur's video.

"Black Mage, you were supposed to ask the healers to adjust for you!"

Holy and flare are good to know, but i wasn't really saying anything about cast times, all i said is the actual spell ones are the ones you can't really move around with.

Well, this is slightly discouraging; I haven't attempted Susie EX yet, been farming Lakshmi, which I'm guessing is way easier. It was certainly easier than, say, Nidhogg/Thordan/Sephirot EX were to learn, for me. Maybe I'll learn Susie as SCH instead.

That said, the SB BLM rotation is much more forgiving than the HW rotation was - Transpose lets you keep Enochian up even if you can't cast, after all. Between the Lines is just a godsend, but perhaps the single best thing I ever did for myself as BLM was to dedicate an entire hotbar to macros for Aetherial Manipulation. Movement is a lot easier when you can teleport to any party member you want, by clicking one button.

So before we log off for the night, I and two friends decide to hit up one last dungeon so one can level up his PLD, which is pretty close to the next level. I go as AST for kicks, and friend #2 goes as NIN. We queued directly for Brayflox and it popped after a few moments. I load in and plop a greeting into party chat for the fourth party member, who I see is a BLM and who is watching the cutscene at the beginning. Cool. Here is the conversation we had over voicechat in the next few moments before the gate goes down:

Me: Oh, that BLM has the Brand-New set on, I think. Little outdated at this point, isn't it? It's probably fine, though.
    PLD: Yeah, I think so.
-Pause during which PLD apparently examines their gear-
PLD: Okay, yeah, it is the Brand-New set. But that's all they're wearing. *Laughs*
Me: Wait, all they're wearing? Like, they don't have any accessories on or anything??
PLD: Yeah, that's it! They have some glasses on, too.
    Me: Wat.
    NIN: *Heavy sigh*

We all had a chuckle about it, and to their credit, the BLM politely informed us as the gate went down that their item level was 8. Yikes. (It wasn't their first time through either; they had DRG at 50). I tell them we'll make do, and off we go.

The BLM's rotation seemed fine enough (besides the liberal application of Break), but man, things just weren't dying very quickly -- not that that's surprising. On a later examination, I discovered that they were using a level 5 weapon, which is totally baffling. They must have been doing their class quests, since they were a BLM and not THM, and those quests give weapons for free! And now that I think about it, I don't recall their wearing the Brand-New Ring either, so I wonder if they never finished Hall of the Novice... Our group in voicechat spent the run praying that some caster gear would drop, but alas it was all tank gear, which our PLD already had from leveling WAR and DRK. Things move along smoothly enough since the PLD barely takes any damage and I can mostly DPS.

Then we come to the final boss. The three of us spend a moment over voicechat bemoaning the fact that we'll basically be three-manning the boss, but get on with it nonetheless. Everything's fine until Aiatar's first poison puddle targets the BLM, who takes a hefty chunk of damage from it. No big deal; I slap them with Essential Dignity, Esuna, and a regen. Then I notice that their HP is still plummeting and look to my left: yup, they're standing in the poison. I made the executive decision that healing them through that would be far from worth the cost in both MP and DPS loss, and promptly let them dissolve in the puddle. As I considered whether or not I'd res them once the puddle wasn't slowly eating away at their corpse, they teleported back to the entrance, which meant we were actually three-manning the boss. Which was fine, of course, but still a little frustrating.

After we were done my two friends bailed as soon as they could, but I stuck around to let the BLM know that they should really look into some new gear. They responded that that was what they were here for -- understandable, I guess, but I wonder if many other parties will be willing to carry them the way we did until they get what they need. I told them that they were contributing very little with a level 5 weapon (not to mention the complete lack of accessories), and that even some NPC gear would help immensely. They told me that they were looking for better gear but hadn't seen any yet, and promptly left before I could explain to them where they might find some vendor gear for their level. I really don't understand how they got their DRG to 50 but didn't know how to acquire basic gear, though. I understand that the MSQ feeds it to you, but don't people like, look around and see that there are vendors? @_@

Overall, more of a headscratcher than a nightmare. Still walked out of that dungeon with their Commendation, though.

More than that, though, they have a job at 50, they should be more than capable of soloing runs to get their own gear. Surely something else must be going on there. o.O

    Long time ago story:
Doing a dungeon with 2 friends and a PUG. PUG is wearing all AF except their boots which are 20+ levels lower. I mention this very politely, thinking that maybe they were goofing around with glamours or something and forgot to put their set feet back on. Their response:
    "I wearing shoes, lol"

My friend responds over voice chat: "Well, you got told"
    indeed I did.
We finished the dungeon ok with "shoes, lol" dealing moderate DPS but now "I wearing shoes, lol" is my go to response for whatever I don't have an immediate comeback for.
