I use it quite a lot. But it would be nice if SE would add Enmity to it
It doesnt have added enmity and the damage is pathetic. Thats why noone uses it.It seems like Im the only pali that uses it from what Ive seen Im confused I thought that everyone wanted more aoe. Is it bad should I not be using it cause I spam it then do goring on adds after. Whats the deal why doesn't anyone seem to like it, I'm a tank main but I been playing alot of dps lately. So Im noticing a trend and am really just curious is the skill under-powered?

Total Eclipse is great. It's 93.5 potency in Shield Oath compared to Overpower's 96 potency in Defiance. It also gets buffed by FoF. Combined with Circle of Scorn, PLD aoe is pretty good now. Enmity isn't a problem at all after last week's ridiculous Flash buff, so you only need 1 or 2 Flashes at the start of a pull and you're set. Anyone that doesn't use Total Eclipse is bad.
I can think of several times where its been great for me the level 61 dungeon after second boss if you pull every add in that room and you arent helpin with aoe ur gona die. Its many big pulls you can do in the new dungeons where using this skill isnt poop and you have df cool downs why would I let everyone else do all the work I been waiting on this aoe for a while now hah.No. The real reason people aren't using it is because it's donkey poop unless it's absolutely the last option, while you're being swarmed by a mob of enemies that either do no damage to you or in an instance prior to getting your heal. Or in a group with a healer that can't or wont aoe. Or in a group with a scholar.
I can believe what I'm reading.
Why on earth wouldn't you use it?!!
To flash at no damage? To do single target rotation even though at 3+ mobs it's a dps gain?
Whether you use it or not, it has no impact on healer aoe unless you're hust spamming clemency...
I have all 3 tanks leveled and PLD has more sustainable aoe dps than the other tanks. Just need to flash once, pop FoF and spam aoe until out of tp. Then you spam holy spirit to recover tp and repeat...
Actually you need 4 mobs for it to be a dps gain when you have goring blade, with holy spirit you need 5 mobs to be a dps gain. That does quickly start to limit situations where it's truly beneficial to use.
I flash a few times on large pulls (like about 6 mobs or so) then after that I pop FoF then TE. Don't know why we wouldn't use it when FoF is active. Sure, you don't do as much enmity but if you took a comfortable lead, it's better to do some damage. Once the pack is down to 3 mobs or less, though, I no longer use it.
It only limits them if you pull one pack at a time. Unless pulls are microscopic later on I can't imagine a situation where you wouldn't have 5+ on you since 2 packs should be at least 6.
I'm really confused by this post. What is Total Eclipse doing that's preventing healer DPS? And what does it have to do with being healed? You know it's usable inside Shield Oath right? Like... watNo. The real reason people aren't using it is because it's donkey poop unless it's absolutely the last option, while you're being swarmed by a mob of enemies that either do no damage to you or in an instance prior to getting your heal. Or in a group with a healer that can't or wont aoe. Or in a group with a scholar.
Given that most melee seem to be afraid of doing aoes, and the artificial walls in dungeons often limiting pulls to around 6 or 7 it's not unheard of for a pack to be smaller. When you pull like that it usually doesn't take long to get the pack down to 5 or less. Yeah of course use it, but really I'm more concerned about all the melee dps that don't use aoes cause they're afraid of being low on tp than whether or not a pld has a tiny dps loss on a pack of mobs.
