can someone please explain to me why this game needs to have a jump feature? Are there platforming parts in this game? I'm just a little confused as to why we need jumping?

People have been explaining why pretty much since the game launched. Please, read one of those threads and catch yourself up.
The long and the short of it is that this is a standard feature in MMOs though. Regardless of the many other valid reasons, this game has to compete in a market where jump is standard, and last I checked they're not clamoring to have jump removed in Rift or WoW.
The people who have this ridiculous hatred of jump just need to get over it and move on. It's coming, whether you like it or not, because more people want it. That's how both democracies and capitalism work.

So a game has to have jump not because it is needed for the gameplay but because everyone else is doing it? That is a pretty stupid reason. What I want to know is with this jump are we getting areas with platform elements or we are just getting a tacked on jump to copy everyone else?People have been explaining why pretty much since the game launched. 1) There was no democracy in this decision. There was QQing from those who wanted jump beCAUSE it's in every other MMO. There is no reason for jump. What NEEDED to be done was the game mechanics needed to be addressed that caused issues that were described about getting stuck on small logs and other objects; which I agree with. However, jumping did NOT need to be implimented to accomplish this.
2) People who wanted jump should move on as this is how the game was created not the other way around. Instead all you have done was shown that bitching enough about mundane BS is what matters most to YOU and your selfish child like behaviors and that because it existed in other games means it HAS TO exist f*cking everywhere. A majority of former FFXI players didn't want it. It's only those bandwagon MMO players who jump from new shiney MMO to new shiney MMO who wanted this shite instead of giving the devs constructive advice on how to alleviate the actual issue of the game mechanic instead.
Way to go! Pat yourselves on the back and have your mom change your diapers and get a warm ba ba to suckle on.![]()

Then this majority of players should have voted / posted to not add jump.1) There was no democracy in this decision. There was QQing from those who wanted jump beCAUSE it's in every other MMO. You're the one being a baby. Is jumping really that game breaking?
I hope you come back and tell me it ruins your immersion because we can't jump in a game.
PS. Jump has a purpose. Cancelling spell casts. There, now /thread.
really? thats your use for jump?.... you can hit ESC you know, as it was said, jumping was never needed, the problems could have been fixed in other ways. Unless they add platforming elements to 2.0 there will be no need for jump at allThen this majority of players should have voted / posted to not add jump.

Actually we DID and I did. Maybe you should read the previous post I responded too prior to it being added and the debates that went on at that time. Then this majority of players should have voted / posted to not add jump.

Not sure troll how I'm the baby when I'm simply stating fact.
As for cancelling spell casts moron, you can't cancel spell casts via movement of ANY kind so how the hell will jump do that? You have to hit your spell again to get it to cancel! LOLOLOL GG jackwagon!
As for immersion; wtf I'm not 'immersing' myself. Jump has no purpose other than to make this game like "Every other MMO". Which is all you and your jumping wanna bes want it for. I quote it because that has been the consensus and "reasoning" behind "needing" jump. And you are a perfect example as to why it is being added. You completely fail to see the logic of jump being nothing more than a band-aid to fix a mechanics issue because you all can't take the f*cking time to walk/run around a log or stone. Takes to much effort for your lazy ass to pay attention while your watching anime instead of playing the game.![]()
