    Just have one potion that lets you change the DoW/DoM retainer to any other DoW/DoM you have leveled, and another potion that lets your DoL retainer change between any DoL you have leveled. It becomes a little unfair if you can switch them between combat and gathering.

    Each DoL gathers completely different things. They're not the same like combat classes are, so a jump potion to switch between them would be no different than a jump potion to switch between combat and some DoL class.

    Exactly this. All combat retainers have the exact same venture options. But a Botanist has different venture options to a Miner, which has different venture options to a Fisher.

    In regards to this idea, I would support jump potions being available in-game between combat classes ONLY. Swapping from combat to gatherer or from a gatherer to anything, should incur the usual reset issue and require relevelling from level 1.

    I could roll wit this.

    Honestly I just don't wanna have to Re-level my level 61 MCH Retainer from 1-50 as a Rogue or MRD, just so I can make her a Red Mage.

    Maybe if the list of stuff they can gather get nerfed down to the ground.

    That they save time once you have leveled them up is the reason why you have to level them up.

    Pass. This seems overly easy. Instead, I'd prefer that retainers didn't entirely lose proggress in previous classes if you changed their current one (i.e maxed out MRD retainer, you want to change because you decided with the new expansion you won't level MRD first - so you change retainer's class to GLD and it starts out as lvl1, BUT you retain its old proggress in case you ever want to change it back to MRD for whatever reason).

    Some items obtainable by ventures are quite rare, adding a way to cheese your way to these items seems... like a bad idea.

    It's one thing to have these potions for your character as you NEED to level up in order to access most content, retainers however don't quite work this way, and can perform their core duties (which is to store crap) even if they remain at lvl1 forever.

    Leveling them is easy as hell, you go to them and order them to go out for a couple of hours with items and a truckload of exp, and bam in little enough time you have a leveled retainer, your only loss being ventures

    the only difference is now you don't have to level the class you don't want to play anymore(MCH) merely to keep you retainer on level.

    I understand the issues with changing a Miner to a combat class, but I don't see how swapping combat classes hurts anything at all.

    and no, leveling them is not hard. it's just tedious, for absolutely no reason at all.

    I also think that the retainers should can switch from one combat class to another combat class without releveling. The item list is the same.
    But why will you want a consumable item for that istead of via a NPC? The one NPC in the markets already allow the retainer to keep the level if he switch from a battle class to any battle job. But once he have a job, the level get reseted if he change to another battle class or job.
