There's a difference if you swap to gathering jobs, but nothing changes within the battle jobs outside of the gear they can equip as far as I'm aware of.

I wouldve been happy if I couldve changed jobs and it resets to 50... not all the way back to 1. My Vinja is working the process now to become a SAM that he always was.

This is what is should be...you should be able to change the DoW/M retainers to any other DoW/M (that you have leveled yourself, obviously) and it should reset back to ~50 at a steep cost (say, 100-200 ventures for a book)

Different roles bring you different items. To be able to just switch a retainer from lv 70 DoM/DOW to lv 70 Miner or from lv 70 Miner to lv 70 Botanist would be a bit OP.

But it shouldn't be a problem to switch a lv 70 MNK to lv 70 AST, because all DoM/DoW retainers have the same items they can collect.

OP how? How does not having to level your Retainer from level 1 repeatedly give you an unfair advantage over another player?

This would be cool but I think the dev could use some of these ideas and learn from them, I personally wouldn't mind the potion so long as its a in game item you buy from a NPC only with a decent price that can make it a Gil sink maybe 2-5mil per potion. SE has gone a little overboard with the cash shop let's not give them something simple like this to add to it.

Switching your retainer between various combat classes should have little or no penalty in the first place, since they're completely interchangeable. A penalty to switch between botany, mining, fishing, and combat is understandable.

Just have one potion that lets you change the DoW/DoM retainer to any other DoW/DoM you have leveled, and another potion that lets your DoL retainer change between any DoL you have leveled. It becomes a little unfair if you can switch them between combat and gathering.
