The constant disconnects

The fact that people are able to connect while using a VPN all but confirms it: Square-Enix are to blame, via throttling / restricting access to FFXIV from certain IP address ranges.

If you are in the UK, or another country which allows for easy IP address renewal, try the following:

1. Find your IP address by clicking here: https://www.google.co.uk/#q=what+is+my+ip

2. Note it down, then power off your router for about 1 minute, then back on.

3. Check the link again. If your IP address range has changed (e.g. from 46.208.xxx.xxx to 87.103.xxx.xxx), then try FFXIV again. If not, reset your router again (perhaps for a little longer if your IP didn't change at all).

The idea behind this is that, being in the UK, we sometimes get assigned IP addresses that make it look like we're in different countries (e.g. the Netherlands). If Square-Enix is restricting via IP address range, then a change of IP to an "acceptable" range might resolve the issue.

Let me know if anyone tries these steps with any success.

This was how I fixed it yesterday, the problem has come back today - but again, resetting the router and obtaining a new IP, once again fixed it.

Again this is just further evidence that we're probably being targeted by an over-zealous DDoS protection scheme

This sadly doesnt fixes my issue. I am stuck in quarrymill hell with red balling immediately after I sign in and 90k maybe a min after. I wish it would just let me do things but im unable to even do about anything. Forced to close the game.

Yeah, as i see this very specific issue that doesnt affect the majority (who they care) of the users.
Its sad that they dont even bother to help because its a contained non massive problem.

You can add me as yet another UK player stuck in the 90002 vortex of doom around Quarrymill. In my case it's on Excalibur. I can login, get a brief flash of what's around me in Quarrymill then it goes back to 90002 and dumps me out again.

I'm particularly annoyed, I just picked up the game a few days ago and was quite enjoying it. This however has left me feeling very sour about the quality of support. I've had no response yet to bug reports or tickets, and there's been no response on the forums here either. I'd be peeved at this kind of conduct from a free to play vendor, but to have it from a subscription service is utterly unacceptable.

Another unhappy UK player on a NA server. It has nearly been 24 hours since I was last able to run the game successfully. I've tried everything I can afford (restarting router, restarting my ps4 100 times, PRAYING????) and nothing. I'm having the same issues as everybody else here; logging in and being unable to do anything except move whilst being marked with the dc symbol. If I try to teleport or leave the zone (I'm stuck in South Shroud) I get a black screen and am kicked from the game. Very frustrating as it was working fine yesterday morning (besides one or two kicks during omega) and now I can't even just teleport back to my apartment. Very upsetting and since I can't hook up a VPN to my PS4 right now, I'm stuck waiting on their fix.

Another Quarrymill partner. I don't know what's in that place that simply don't allow you to do anything but walk around and after 5 minutes get disconnected... It seems we will have to gather together and hit the press, and then maybe they might do something to avoid exposure...

i just did omega 1.0 and out of luck didnt had any dc it magically got fixed or again is just luck?

I've just tried and nothing changed. Still stucked in bloody Quarrymill.
