Tweaking my graphics settings - any advice? Want to get 60 FPS.

I was advised to try getting 60 FPS since it would improve my gameplay experience. I agree. So far I only average about 30-45, mainly in non-crowded areas. I'm sure I can do better!

    My system specs are :

    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.6GHz
    Memory: 8192MB RAM
    Available OS Memory: 8106MB RAM

running Windows 10. Geforce 960M. FF14 on an SSD.

There was an ancient blog post somewhere when ARR was just released detailing how to get the most out of low-end systems, but that was some time ago and I'm not sure how much of the
    information is still relevant.

Going to try turning off grass and shadows first as I was advised to do. I've also disabled all party effects.

    Any other suggestions?

Same, I seem to be struggling in getting decent FPS. i have seen it waver between 15-30fps, and i know it's not my hardware. I have an i7 6700k, 32gb ram, and a GTX980Ti. but i can't seem to improve my graphics no matter what i try. i have made sure all drivers and software are up to date. The only thing i can think of having a large effect is my ultra wide display (3440x1440) but i didn't think it would have that large of a detriment.

have you tried running in dx9 and reducing all your graphic options to the lowest possible options? That should give you an idea of the maximum frame rate you can get with your specs.

Another test could be the stormblood benchmark software which you can use to test performance at different graphic presets (max, high(desktop) etc). I think you can choose dx 9 for that too.

Preset to the lowest settings and then up individual settings till youre happy.
In my experience Screen space ambient occlusion/real-time reflections eat a lot of fps.
Lowering display limit can also improve fps in crowded areas.
