    MNK Tornado Kick

I have been using tornado kick in Heavensward as if it was a dps dump for finishing off a mob or boss.

But now I use it quite often w/e ever it is ready.
    General usage is this:
    Internal Release
    Forbidden Chackra
    Elixir Field
    Steal Peak
    Howling Fist
Tornado Kick (With courel form up) So that I can use Demolish or Snap Punch right away)

    Also at 3 GL pop:
    Internal Release
    Perfect Balance
    Tornado Kick
    Snap>snap>snap or snap>snap>demolish
    Tornado Kick

Then back into my normal rotation.
Generally I wait until internal release is back up, and when I do get riddle of fire at 68 I will use it every 90 secs. I buck that ideal and I don't care about the loss of GL. I love seeing 24k crits and roughly 50k total dps blowing all my OGCD skills. It's very gratifying.

Can you offer any thoughts, and I know there will be a lot of people out there saying "Omg GL should never drop off!" But why offer Tornado Kick with a 10 sec cooldown if you never use it.

    You shouldn't be doing that.

Like flat out, Greased Lightning's 30% damage boost and 15% haste is the most potent buff in the game, and 330 potency from using Tornado Kick is not strong enough to make up for dropping it. Greased Lightning is such a potent buff that it's still just debatable as to whether using it at the end of Riddle of Fire is an overall DPS gain.

The only time to use it is still the last half 1% of a fight, when the boss jumps and loss of Greased Lightning is unavoidable, or when you're on the razors edge off a DPS check and it looks like you're going to die without a quick burst of damage
But why offer Tornado Kick with a 10 sec cooldown if you never use it.
Excellent question. We're still not sure. When you look at it in the context of Tackle Mastery and Riddle of Earth existing, Perfect Balance still having a 3 minute cooldown, and Riddle of Fire removing Monk's trademark haste, the best answer we have been able to come up with is "Nobody on the dev team actually plays Monk".

Tornado Kick will always be relegated to being a finisher. NOTHING justifies voluntarily sacrificing GL.

My wish is that we'd get a trait similar to blm that let's us use tornado kick without its cost. I love the move and understand it's function but it's such a cool ability for it to be relegated to a kind of mercy stroke. But yeah op you shouldn't be doing that

Yeah, honestly at this point Tornado Kick is just kind of a huge waste. For what is basically the action with the coolest animation on Monk, it's a shame that it's relegated to being a Mercy stroke you're guaranteed to only get to use once a fight.

They really should have examined it for use with a trait in Stormblood so we could get more use out of it rather than giving us Tackle Mastery.

It's really odd just how little Square seems to understand just how powerful GL3 is and how much of a waste it is to use Tornado Kick because of it. Yet they seem to really, really want us to use Tornado Kick.

Yeah, I wouldn't even be upset at not getting some new attack if I was given more of a chance to use TK. Replace tackle master with my dream TK trait and remove the form requirement on 1ilm punch (add a cooldown) and I'd be 100% happy with monks in SB

It fit with the kinda rng feel of monk nowadays. To be honest I'm fine with the rng. Sure it makes our dps unreliable but when I imagine a monk I think of the adaptable Jackie Chan type fighter. That could just be me

I'm sure the dev team wanted us to use TK in our normal rotation. I fail to see dropping GL for 9-15 secs is a HUGE drop in dps. Otherwise when I get Riddle of Fire the DPS boost from it is a wash. 30% dam boost but 15% slower. So my math is this: 30% with GL then I use riddle, and it's down to 15%. Then from 15% I add 30% with riddle. OMG my head hurts... Why can't I just use TK with out being stared at... THATS A JUMP MOVE ONLY ZOMG GET GUD.... *as I roll my eyes*.... But then I just crit for 30k Then pop perfect balance. w/e right

I've been using TK to cap off a Burst with Riddle of Fire.

Some might say that it's a tremendous DPS loss basically extending the length of its GL nullification, but my goodness if seeing a 25k crit on a MNK isn't glorious.
