I've been using TK to cap off a Burst with Riddle of Fire.
Some might say that it's a tremendous DPS loss basically extending the length of its GL nullification, but my goodness if seeing a 25k crit on a MNK isn't glorious.

Yes that's the point i'm trying to make. For a burst damage it's kind of impressive TK putting up some really high numbers.
Unloading everything you got with Riddle of Fire, Internal Release, Forbidden Chackra, Howling Fist, Elixir Field, Steal Peak, Tornado Kick, Brotherhood, More Forbidden Chackras. Then back into my normal rotation. It isn't long (90 secs basically) to do the burst again. So that's 90 secs of 3 GL doing high damage. I feel that this isn't a HUGE loss in dps since GL dosn't take as long as people think to build back up. I can get 3 GL in about 20 secs, less if I use all my burst while in corel form with demolish or snap.
If Naoki Yoshida would main monk, there would be a trait with "Grants Tornado Kick ready if Greased Lightning is maintained for 30s. Tornado Kick ready effect: You are able to use Tornado Kick without losing Greased Lightning." instead of Tackle Mastery.
Unfortunately he is main Black Mage.
I generally just use TK 2 times or 3 times in every 11minutes raid
Adding it in your normal rotation would weaken your monk, just use it on certain mechanics like a second phase of the Raid Boss or a mechanic that you know you will lose Gl3 and such. Anyways nice experiment.

Some did the maths and the TK use seems more interesting than in 3.0 thanks to RoF :
- with RoF, you can reach nearly 900 potency with one TS+TK weaving --> (330+180) *1.3*1.3 = 861.9.
- Now add some extra damages from Battle Litany/Trick Attack/Potion/Blunt Debuff
and you can see why loosing your GL3 may result in a dps increase.
Before throwing flames at me, I did some tests, and, tbh, I don't see a HUGE dps increase using TK in the end of RoF. BUT, I clearly don't see a DPS loss.
1st Note : timing is important, using it BEFORE a snap/demo is mandatory. Also, you need to use all your oGCDs BEFORE using TK, otherwise it will result in a DPS loss if you use them without GL3.
2nd Note : I'm not an expert in maths and theory crafting, but, I feel like this needs to be considered before throwing it to the trash in the name of the GL3 holy power.
3rd Note : I don't like the TK opener desrcibed in the thread (it feels too awkward for me), but it also needs to be considered.
4th Note : Fuck this 1000car limit...

Finally someone that sort of agrees with me on this. I still think Tornado Kick is a viable skill to use w/e:Actually... https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme...do_kick_in_40/

Build combo to corel form
3 GL, RoF, Internal Release,
Forbidden Chackra
Elixir field
Howling Fist
Steal Peak
Tornado Kick
Brotherhood
Back into normal combo with demolish or snap
I think this can be tested at the very least.
