    Pretty sure the OP is not a Final Fantasy series veteran, or just never got to experience the glory that was FFV.

    I, for one, say it's pretty freaking awesome! A step up from Alex. Feels like Coil again but better.

    I don't think anything will live up to Coil considering it was about the freaking dragon that already caused a freaking calamity, ended 1.x's story, and paved the way into 2.x's world. Alexander and Omega by comparison are new threats to the world and we need to put them down to prevent a new calamity.

    Nero and Cid are still getting good development, and will likely have even more of a focus as the raid continues. You can't exactly blame the Chocobo for taking much of the focus when it's a new character. I mean if you really want to talk about investment and quality of writing, I can just as easily say that it took WAY too long for Alisae to decide that she actually wanted to protect the world of her own volition instead of 'because she only wanted to understand her grandfather's motives', which is probably even worse when considering she was like that since the very start of the game. Which is to say, everything good about Coil was basically backloaded into the second half of the raid, and especially crammed into the last two fights. Plus Coil didn't have any new characters to introduce anyway.

    So many people seriously take writing, especially the establishment of a background and pacing, for granted.

    I really enjoyed Omega. When I heard the theme I was so happy. The bosses were great and I can't wait for savage and the next tier. I enjoyed FFV so seeing all the references was great.

    There is no way to please everyone, so... My gf and myself enjoyed the raid from start to end, from the first boss to the last one. Omega itself tells you how he is analyzing your combat data, so from that viewpoint it's perfectly normal to send something easy at first and then hit the difficulty up a bit each time. I played FFV (and sometimes i still do it a bit!) so this raid was a great surprise for me as i recognized the castle in the egg shell. The music is of the FFV, no wrong made there. The mechanics were awesome, and i enjoyed the phase out of the 3rd boss a lot!! We also have the records writen by the allagan to read, something i will enjoy as i suspect it will give us a chance to see into their culture and reasons of disappearance. Thought, after seeing how Omega behaves i am getting an idea of how it could have happened, honestly. And about the chocobo... Well, i will only say that i dont expect him to be "cute" forever.

    The only thing i am not hyped about it's the armor appearance. I am sure more than one will find it perfect for a glamour, at least some of the pieces. Also it matches the Kugane setting. I am not mad about it, but it it's not my choice of glamour either.

    My entire problem with the plush thing is that it really didnt need to exist in that ridiculous form for the sake of this story. It just seems like pandering to some made up need for a cute character or some random ff ip reference quota, as if this raid hasn't hit it already. It's just throwing my immersion/suspension of disbelief right out the window when these characters that have earned my respect are now treating this thing like it's just some dude that doesn't speak the same language or like it's a really smart anthropomorphized cartoon dog that's basically a person, Instead of some horrifically malformed chocobo thing. They just accepted it wayyy too quickly.

    And if I understood things correctly, Shinryu was supposed to be comparable to bahamut, and this thing was designed to fight it, so I don't think Omega itself is lacking in the cool factor as compared to bahamut.

    They should lower the Boss HP and increase the damage from the boss so it's more mechanics focus. Right know these bosses are a total snooze fest and the lack of guaranteed reward makes it all the worse.

    I enjoyed myself greatly. It probably helps that FFV is one of my favorites if not my absolute favorite, and I don't mind wiping once and then getting through things like this. It's a lot better than a bunch of people whining because people don't know mechanics despite everyone being new, and the challenge will be there for Savage for those who want it.

    My current theory is that that Omega is a reference to Dissidia and we're going to deal with a bunch of enemies from the franchise. They picked well with FFV being the first choice (and the wind-up Bartz minion and syldra suddenly make a lot more sense) but they already hit the big time by using Ex-death. If we go by my current theory, next up is we're going to deal with some other final fantasies, here's hoping we deal with Kefka next!
