WHM needs either a DPS buff, or utility

I think people are grossly underestimating the value of the MP sustain WHM currently brings to the table - especially for raid groups progressing through content that don't play at the World First / speed run skill level. With the way WHM is currently designed, it brings a large safety net and recovery potential that can't really be matched by the other two healers.

Having played AST in the current content, I'm not so sure I agree. WHM sustain is very, very strong now, yes. But AST's MP is not exactly unforgiving. I can toss out supershields and resses at will and still have MP to spare. The shields in particular make mechanics we've seen so far very forgiving.

I do think AST+WHM will be the way to go for huge recovery potential. If/When SE buffs SCH... then I suspect people will want balance + stratagem/fey wind more than resses + more resses. (And, of course, RDM can instacast every res...)

This is also assuming Astrologian isn't nerfed as well. If WHM, and this is an IF not knowing their thinking, is the one they think is right Sch will be buffed a bit and Ast will be brought down a bit.

Time will tell. I think right now WHMs don't have as many things to fear as they did during Heavensward. By 3.4 WHM was basically AST minus the cards.

In the current iteration, WHM now offers massive MP sustainability and while AST also has potent sustain due to lower healing costs and extended Lucid Dreaming, they lack the 0MP heals WHM has. WHM also have more burst potential in the form of having Assize, Tetra, Divine Benison, Benediction, and Plenary Indulgence with Pressence of Mind increasing their potential throughput even faster for a brief period of time. This is versus AST's Essential Dignity, Earthly Star, and Lady of Crowns.

Also in your potency post, don't forget that Aspected Benefic > Regen in terms of potency/GCD. You will need to reapply AB more often but that's a small price to pay for an overall stronger passive heal.
