Gear up 1 class -> go raiding -> get gear for your 1. Class and after that the rest of the gear can be used to gear up the rest of your classed

They need to double the reward for tank/healer in need for all of the DR lol
If they don't want us to burn out, keep 3 separate weekly caps for tank, healer, and dps. Then increase the reward from each run so that you cap each job faster. And give adventurer in need an increased tome reward.
You are still gearing faster than intended at that point. I get wanting to get multiple jobs ready quickly, but the caps are they way they are for a reason. The only option to bypass the caps in some cases would be to speak to your friendly neighborhood crafter if you have to have the gear that quickly.
No you aren't - you are gearing just as fast as intended, you just are more flexible.
And you can already do exactly that by having alts - you can have up to 40 if you so desire, 8 per server. Do you see any big balancing issues arising from that? No, because there aren't any. The only difference is that they allow you to burn yourself out on MSQ grind on the alts instead.
This Topic is especially true once the Relic Questhunt begins. Usually I play different classes and struggle hard to get all of them somewhat equipped. This is a struggle by itself but as soon as relic quest hits the Server you have to give up on equipping alternative Jobs because the Relic eats away all of your tombstones.
I like the separate cap for Tank/DPS/Healer. You'd likely see a lot more tanks/healers later in the week after people cap their favorite DPS job grabbing extra runs/tomes on an alt-healer/tank role that they are working up part-time.
The excuses I've read regarding players experiencing "burnout" are pointless, untrue concerns. There's so much to do in the game even without this change to the system that you already have people on all day who'll just find something else to do and work on that if they're capped on tomes for the week under the current system. Having more options to do what you want to do in an MMO is never a bad thing and anyone who comments that developers are concerned about how much time folks are spending on their game really have no idea what they're talking about.
Do I think I'd have the time/want to fully cap all 3 role types in a week at 1350 total tomes? Probably not, but it doesn't mean that many other folks won't easily be able to or want to do so. Stop trying to handicap others who would like this type of system, especially when it wouldn't have any major impact on you in any way other than "well I can't do that so I don't want anyone else to be able to do that either!"
But being able to play all the jobs on one character is the highlight of FF14 right?!?!? Yeah...this is why I never understood the excitement over that feature. You are locked on limited currencies like tomes. You are stuck with a single race unless you are made of money and use a fantasia every time you switch jobs. You are limited on Specialist for crafting. Etc. etc. etc.
we will maybe get the new cap of 900 tomes a week you know? it was changed near the end of HW, and even before HW the caps was changed but conserved after all.
the point of 900 tomes it allows to have a decent gear for a jobs in 5 week then who know.
