    The main issue of Royal Menagerie is that the bare minimum average ilvl needs to be 290, not 280.

    People coming in at 280 have too low health for the adds phase leading to a lot of wipes there. Besides that the entire thing is just your standard issue AoE dance you can brute force if you got good healers.

    When I first did it one wipe was all it took, after that everyone knew the fight and we cleared it without issue thanks to good healers and good tanks. When I tried to help some FC mates, we kept wiping constantly. We got a bunch of bad healers, people were under geared on the bleeding edge of being allowed into the fight.

    So we took those FC mates, ran them through Ala Mhigo for upgrades and I geared out my Healer.

    When I went as DPS despite doing the dance without issue we wiped ~21 times over 3 run attempts. When I went as my healer we 1 shot the boss with me as main healer on AST. If the healers can keep up the trial is all about just dodging aoe and breaking the tail.

    You're contradicting yourself a bit here. It doesn't matter why content is more difficult. You've also done virtually nothing to refute the points of myself and SuperZay.

    You know what bugs me the most about people voicing mindless defences like yours? It's that we're on the same side - we want harder content in FFXIV, and we think people can handle it. Despite this, your statements paint precisely the wrong picture to SE.     For the love of the Twelve, stop acting like there's nothing wrong with fights like Royal Menagerie or the original Steps of Faith. Any idiot could see there was something wrong, whether they were a skilled player or not. If FFXIV were a single-player game, these are fights where reviewers would criticize difficulty jumps. By acting as if nothing's wrong, you're worsening the situation. Even IF Shinryu isn't nerfed, a la Final Steps of Faith, it's still bad design. There's a legitimate reason why people are throwing a fit, as I myself did to a few friends who play. My first reaction was "Holy f*ck SE screwed up the difficulty curve." And, yes, I turned around and beat it in a couple of tries once I had a party with DD who weren't falling off the platform en masse. It felt good to conquer. But it was clearly a difficulty spike, and that's bad game design, pure and simple.

    And they're all mechanics that have shown up in the MSQ previously. Still, it requires you to focus on the game, which is evidently more than most people can do.

    The only thing i can see being nerfed in this fight is the knockback move in phase 2, either by making the cast time longer or making the width thinner so you have more room as i right now it seems to be a Titan Hard situation where latency is casuing people to get knocked off even though they are clearly outside of teh radius.

    Outside of that i don't see anything that needs to be nerfed,

    The knockback isn't even that big. I've been hit by that mechanic several times and I know it only knocks you back by 1/2 of a tile.

    It's not about how hard it is, it's about how hard it is in comparison to other things. It's a very obvious difficulty spike, and those are usually frowned upon as far as design goes. I know everyone wants to talk about how good they are at videogames, but I will not be surprised to see adjustments to its difficulty whenever they decide to patch this thing.

    I have mixed feelings about this fight. On the one hand it's really fun. On the other hand, a win depends on everyone doing their job and the mechanics right and content is gated behind it.

    I've tried this run twice. The first time was horrible as most had no idea what to do and the healers were too busy playing dps to heal. The second time There was one awesome healer and one good healer but first try one tank didn't understand "hit the button as fast as you can" and died and some of the dps didn't dodge easily avoided damage. I'm far from perfect myself and made mistakes. If people would stick with it and not ragequit after one or two tries they could learn it and win.

    This fight is on everyone. Healers have to heal, Tanks to tank, Dps to dps. All avoid unnecessary damage. Making it easier isn't really the answer.
