To say they worked for the gil is a bit charitable considering even the minimum price that would bill up is in the millions.I honestly have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, they did do all this work to make this happen: leveled every alt to 50, leveled every FC to rank 6, and collected the gil to make it all happen. On the other hand, it's absolutely selfish for two players to own 28 plots in a single ward.
It's like... I'm a little pissed off they took so many plots but it's actually kind of aweome that they were diligent and determined enough to grind to get them all? Does that even make sense?
And they say they did it selling Palace drops.
Nothing suspicious about this at all.
I feel the need to correct this because this is an incredibly misleading statement that I believe was not elaborated on. It was only the first house on our alts that was done by Palace drops. I don't think you have a concept of how empty Mateus was and how little there was on the market despite there being demand for it. On Mateus at the time, before 50-100 was released and it crashed the market, Tier V materia was selling for 300-500k each, so you really only needed a few lucky drops.
I've seen a lot of transfers from Balmung and Gilgamesh come to Mateus and have sticker shock even now that the markets have deflated slightly. Our Ironworks pieces were still 1-2mil a month ago, for example. That 100 million gil you came to Mateus with? On this server right now it's probably only worth the equivalent of 30 due to the high costs of items. Four months ago it would be about 10. Inflation.
Edit: Just as an example, Nightmare Pegasus Whistles were 30 million until very recently (they're 20 million now); Fiend Saps were 7-10 million each because we have so few people running the content.

Okay
Now factor in buying power that the server would have with so few people in it and with the things that are being sold being so exorbitantly expensive.
Guess people must have been hitting their Challenge logs Hardcore.
While I can't really speak for how the gil got injected into the general economy in the first place, we earned every bit of it legitimately.
Come on. We've been reported by at least a dozen people by now, if everyone who said they were going to do so did so. Owning multiple homes isn't against any rules, but obtaining them through shady means is. So surely we've been investigated. Don't you think if there had been any shadiness about what we did, they would've found it by now?
As for theories? I suspect a great deal of it was left behind by transfers buying items to resell on their destination servers as they left Mateus. Because most people hated Mateus and would do anything to jump ship to Balmung, Gilgamesh, Leviathan, etc. - so they left progressively more and more gil in the hands of fewer and fewer people.
Eta: People seem super concerned we're going to flip plots for profit, too. I've already had some offers, and I've turned them down stating it's against TOS to engage in that behavior. Would-be buyers trying to trap us into wrongdoing will find nothing in us.

As per Yoshi-P himself, plot-flipping is against TOS, so no one will be purchasing land directly from us.
And we actively use what we have, despite the number of people screeching to the contrary, so the auto-demolition timer is in absolutely no danger of ticking down on any of them.
If you expected any other answer here, I don't know what else I can say. I thought our position was pretty clear.
Oh I was just asking to ask. I'm not even on your server : pAs per Yoshi-P himself, plot-flipping is against TOS, so no one will be purchasing land directly from us.

It's funny because increasing the gil cap is meant to be an incentive, but in fact, transferring from Balmung to anywhere is precisely when you want to convert all of your gil into items to resell on your destination server, as it's the only way to not severely depreciate your net worth. 1,000,000 gil on Balmung is worth far more than 1,000,000 gil on any other server.I feel the need to correct this because this is an incredibly misleading statement that I believe was not elaborated on.
