I don't care to have underwater battles in general but an old school throw back to emerald weapon where we get pushed to an instance on the sea floor would be cool. Air battles are a hot mess. Historically they are extremely difficult to execute in mmo gaming.

You mean like Kael'thas and his Gravity Lapse spell that sent the whole raid flying trying to avoid the bad? :P I would love if they used the new swimming mechanic for fights like this. The swimming model is basically a flying model, that's why only flying mounts can swim.
Should mention XIV also has a thing that auto faces you to the target. So this is a non issue, big problems would be logistics for attacks like Jump.
All AoE attacks have to be 3 dimensional. A sphere instead of a circle and a 3D cone instead of a 2D cone

No, our current 2D interfaces just don't work with it. Once we have full VR and 3D navigation interfaces, then we can talk about it.
