I actually almost left Doma Castle a few minutes ago.

I know SE is still claiming they're being DDoS'd (at least, according to the login notification I see every time I enter the game), but I'm beginning to think that's just an excuse. I will be completely fine everywhere until I get into an instance, and then my lag is so bad the game is practically unplayable.

Fun Fact i too have problems with lags / freezes - but only in dungeons & trials.

Same - I'm fine out in the open world, but then as soon as I get into an instance I'm looking at anywhere from .5sec - 2sec delay on everything that I do. It's leading to a lot of messed up cards, overheals, and eating AoE that I shouldn't. I feel like it's AST hardmode...

I wasn't saying she wasn't experiencing it, I was saying that instead of accepting that the DDoSing is happening she instead wants to blame SE. Because its easy to blame SE around here.

Considering everything else on my end is fine (Network, Connection, Latency, etc.), it would have to be on SE's end. And they keep claiming they're being DDoS'd, but DDoS does not explain all the crap that happened during Early Access with Raubahn Savage and Duty Finder constantly acting up, and it seems like every time something happened with "Network Technical Difficulties," they blame it on a "DDoS Attack." But eventually, that excuse is going to start running dry.

It's sad how people like you want to white knight everything just for the sake of white knighting.

Rarely have I ever complained about the constant slew of problems SE seems to be having with their servers lately, but when it gets to the point where I cannot progress or level or get anything done, and SE's only excuse is "We're being DDoS'd again"? I get really fed up. And considering how congested some servers are (Balmung), and the fact that they've had to implement an auto-logoff/auto-kick EVERYBODY feature to get rid of the AFKer's because their servers (newly, upgraded NA servers) can't handle this kind of congestion? It shows poor planning and poor server maintenance on their end.

Not even Heavensward launch had as many issues as Stormblood's Early Access did (they had one instance where Balmung crashed the servers, but after they were back up from that, no issues), what with the sheer number of people that were unable to progress past the very first MSQ solo instance for 24-48 hours until it was finally fixed, and now with Duty Finder issues and "Network Technical Difficulties"/"World Technical Difficulties" every other day. It does fall on SE when they don't properly plan around this kind of congestion (I'm sure they have all the sales numbers on how many people purchased EA to SB, and I am sure they could have taken more steps to try and plan around the anticipated congestion--overestimating it would have been far better than underestimating it), or stress test their own brand new servers.


Ending this rant here because that's not what this thread is about. I wish I could post a DF story to get it back on topic, but I haven't tried queuing into anything today, since I didn't want to get stuck in a queue when they announced the daily mass exodus. I'm sure I'll have one tonight though.

People need to stop using this phrase as a way to disregard other people's comments. This is nothing against you personally, but someone defending SE doesn't mean they are "white knighting". It's a ridiculous insult and an attempt to devalue someone else's opinion and stance. Someone could easily tell you to "stop complaining just to complain". Neither comment help the situation. Just because someone else isn't upset about it doesn't mean they are a "white knight"

The individual I quoted added no helpful advice, comments, or anything remotely polite in response to my mini-rant, which was posted in this thread just so I could feel a little bit better about being so incredibly frustrated with the lag I experienced in Doma Castle yesterday (and how I was ignored by the tank when I politely asked twice if I could quickly restart my client in hopes that doing so would fix it so that I could play normally).

They basically told me that it was "sad" people "like me" choose to blame SE because we're getting fed up with the same "We're being DDoS'd again" excuse that pops up every time there's a server or network issue now (because it's not just me getting fed up, but a lot of people in my circle of friends, too). SE failed to adequately prepare for the amount of players that swarmed the servers during Early Access, but did I complain about being stuck on the MSQ and Raubahn Savage for 2 days? No. I just quietly leveled my gatherers. Did I complain when the Duty Finder continued to not work for the majority of the Early Access period? No. I dealt with that. Did I complain when SE claimed they were being DDoS'd again a couple days ago (and still claim it based off of the login notification I see every time I log in? No. But now, it's getting to where I can barely get any sort of progress done in DF with regards to my DoW/DoM jobs, because that is the only place where I experience such terrible lag/disconnects; the overworld is completely fine. And as much as I love crafting and gathering, I would like to be able to level up my AST or my RDM or finish gearing up my BRD, but--horrible DPS queues aside--I can't seem to do that because the lag is so bad when I finally do get into a duty. And performing checks on my end, I can confirm my connection and everything else is fine. So then, where else could the issue possibly lie? With SE.

The DDoS excuse is becoming meaningless to me, but I'm not entitled to have my own opinion because it's not defending SE? Because I feel like there's more SE could do about their server problems? Because I feel like this isn't a DDoS attack anymore, but that DDoS has just become an excuse to cover up a larger issue with server instability? Sorry if I take issue with being told to just accept the fact that SE can do no wrong, because that's certainly not the case.

Kinda triggered right now. Just did Zurvan normal, from trials roulette. I get in with another scholar, and i'm healing when needed and dpsing when healing is not needed. I ended the fight with no mana, and only one person died, they didn't get in the circles and had a large dot on them (they had the returner aswell). I actually thought they were not healing that much either because I kept having to use my larger spells. Anyway right at the end:

Honestly, I can buy the DDoS attack story. Of course, my own evidence is anecdotal and is more easily chalked down to coincidence, but GamerEscape got ransomwared, and I've personally witnessed ads on YouTube, from other game developers, who tried to pass off the Stormblood trailers as trailers for their own game. So yeah, I'd imagine there are people out there who profit from dragging FF XIV in the mud, and for whatever reasons are going to extreme lengths to do so.

It's much more likely that all these events are completely unrelated and I should stop crafting conspiracy theories, but hey, not much else for me to do when the thought of doing more crafting is making me vomit blood.

The DDoS attacks likely have nothing to do with profit, and it's not like it's a unique problem to FFXIV, pretty much every online game launch or expansion has been plagued by them over the last few years. Some people are just asshats.

Bet you my life savings somewhere down the line, he's gonna want his healers to dps. That's why I don't give a damn anymore about what healers do anymore (so long as they keep me alive) cuz they go through so much shit about how they should play.

If healers ONLY healed who would play healer? The fact they CAN dps in between heals makes them interesting. sounds like whoever cried there wasn't too bright.

When someone says "white knight" or SJW in a negative context, I can almost assure you the person who said it is an Nazi sympathizer/MRA/gamergate/sociopath or all four.

There is never any reason to put down people defending something. People need to know the difference between defending, and ass-kissing. The latter is where people defend something/someone/some brand because they get, or hope to benefit by doing so. If you think someone is being a white knight, or social justice warrior on a cause that is indefensible, then call out the indefensible, don't resort to name-calling the person.

Nobody is going to get any benefit by defending SE or Yoshi-P on the forum other than maybe not get ban-hammered since it's against the ToS to be a jerk to SE/SE staff.

I'd advise people to just drop it to avoid SE staff cleaning up the thread.

If people want to DPS as a healer, let them. When the party wipes, then point it out. Likewise if people want to be pure healer, let them. If the boss takes 30% longer because of it, then that's not the healers problem either.
