Why do people care about the weapons so much? The weapons stats are rather pathetic compared to a materia'd weapon.

When I saw the Ifrit staff I was so disappointed when materia couldn't be added to it. The Materia system is cool and all, but it really makes drop gear really crap.
Staff wouldn't be too bad if it had + Healing power instead of + Attack Magic, Im hoping mage weapons will be fixed in 1.20
