Mini rant about scholars and lower dungeons

I really hate how scholars can use Eos in Halatali and lower dungeons. I have had many bad experiences with them. This is the most recent.

I join Halatali with my friend who is new to the game and tanking. We have a level 56 scholar with Eos. Instantly, she starts pulling. I ask her to stop nicely and she ignores me.

A few minutes later, I ask her again to let the tank pull because he wants practice pulling and tanking. She refuses. Her reasons?
    -This is faster
-GLD does not need to practice until lvl 30s
-Eos can do all the healing

At this point we are halfway through and poor noob tank had not been able to pull anything. He was worried about tanking before this, and at this point he is scared that he will never be a good tank and may switch classes.

So, I ask again and she refuses. So I decide "If the healer wants to tank, I want to dragoon." I put by katana away and start standing in AOEs and jumping in circles around enemies(no offense dragoons), occasionally pressing 1 to do some damage. Eos was not able to keep up btw and the healer kept refusing to raise me. XD

By the end of the dungeon, my friend had not been able to pull one enemy. He was also not able to run ahead of her because he did not know the map and the scholar would cast one of her DOT skills before he was able to use shield lob.

I think it would be better if SCH would have access to Emerald Carbuncle for these lower dungeons and could only use it. This would stop the SCH going AFK or doing something they should not do because they are "bored."

Having the fairy at this level or not has nothing to do with encoutering a shitty healer.

Well I also do see this as a way of helping scholars not be bored in lower dungeons. I have gotten very bored before and was very tempted to just dance...

    Exactly.

More to the point though let your friend know that not all healers (or even close to the majority of us) are like that! I had a very similar experience my first run of GLD with an AST who encouraged the bard in our group to spam AoE and just run through all crazy.

They're out there but there are also plenty of chill, patient people healing.

Also Hydalen knows we dont want to scare anyone off from tanking at this point.

Any low level dungeon has always been boring for healing... dpsing or not.

    Who. The. Hell. Cares.

You're in a level 15 dungeon or something, nothing could kill you if it tried. You met a scholar that is actually doing damage, who will make the dungeon faster. You know one of the important lessons to teach your friend about tanking? Sometimes, you don't need to tank everything, and that's ok. It's kind like the wax-on, wax-off of tanking. The first thing to learn about tanking is when not to.

My way of not being entirely bored in low level dungeons as SCH has always been to kill things while manually directing Embrace.

I won't say it isn't a bit boring for being incredibly easy, but the only difference between SCH and the other two healers at that level is that you might occasionally need to use a GCD for healing if you aren't a SCH; otherwise you're still attacking mobs.

While you absolutely got a jerk of a healer, I also wouldn't use the baby dungeons as practice. They are so easy you can literally run them naked. I've done it. For tanking experience, take your friend into Haukke Manor or even Ifrit normal. That will give him a much better experience, though very few healers will act like this one did.

When two people have asked you to stop pulling, you've been overruled and you're just being a jerk at that point.

I disagree. The low level dungeons are actually very good for tank practice.
Not practice at staying alive which, as you note, is quite easy there, but practice at holding aggro of multiple opponents at the same time.
