People always seem to forget how insanely strong DRK was even in physical orientated fights because they're too busy drowning in their own "tanks doing more dps than me" tears. It didn't help that WAR is braindead easy to play at a decent level as opposed to DRK who had more buttons per minute than even DPS classes.

As much as we'd like to, even a DRK can't kick a caster in the crotch repeatedly. A parry is required.

That was the thing though. On one side DRK had an immensely powerful and reliable bonus defensive. On the other, a less reliable but just as powerful one, and a bunch of bonus damage. DRK did fine in both magical and physical fights. It just did them differently.

And more broadly, it's not like PLD never had "its fights". Shelltron felt damn near as exploit in some.

IMO it was long overdue for WAR to get a penalty for stance dancing. It was always absurd that DRK and PLD lost hundreds of potency by turning on their tank stance and a WAR lost nothing and could carry their stacks over to pop IB to get topped off and mitigate.

WAR has the same damage down in tank stance..., and it is specifically that it required the assistant (or the use of self heals) to actual have its tank stance mean something. Also any inner beast is a potency loss over a fell...

So now WAR has the most gimped tank stance, and takes the largest hit for switching stances? BALANCED

Considering that Inner Beast ignores Defiance's penalty, it's as if its potency would be around 466. So, when considering the damage boost of Deliverance, you lose around 100 potency dy doing one Inner Beast vs one Fell Cleave.

That's what PLD loses for every two auto-attacks between ShO and SwO...

That's my point, it was overtuned and had no weaknesses. Even if PLD and DRK worked just fine, WARs design made if far too powerful. It had the highest damage, self heal sustainability, great utility, and enough mitigation to get through any fight in the game as a MT, and at least one of those things needed to be toned back.

In Addition one could say he's one of leading people who define the tanking meta back in 2.0 and 3.0, guy is a big deal in the tanking community who capable of going toe to toe with world first parties. He's also one of the people responsible for identifying the whole dark knight meta of them not using a single powerslash meta and having the warrior pull.

Yea on stream he's saying how most groups are going to run PLD/DRK. Mostly because WARs rotation is a lot harder and it doesn't offer more dps for the complexity.
