war was the best tank in the game in heavensward, id say that is working just fine.

ignoring how it played in ARR, especially in first coil, as thats very old news at this point

That's my point, it was overtuned and had no weaknesses. Even if PLD and DRK worked just fine, WARs design made if far too powerful. It had the highest damage, self heal sustainability, great utility, and enough mitigation to get through any fight in the game as a MT, and at least one of those things needed to be toned back.

as someone who mained both pld and war in ARR and Heavensward, i was happy with the way war was in HW.it was the perfect tank to me.


that didnt stop me from playing paladin, but i did want more. and instead of nerfing war, i wanted pld to be brought up. War was a perfect balance of everything. it didnt need changes like it got, PLD just needed to be better. now PLD is better but they messed up war.


ill continue to main both, but its a shame that im actually enjoying drk (a tank that i hated in HW) more than war now, all because they felt the need to ruin what made the class great

Oh I enjoyed WAR too, but for the wrong reasons. I acknowledge that it order to balance jobs you can't always scale up to the most powerful thing because thats how power creep happens and suddenly all the tanks have no weaknesses and the devs can't design content properly.

I'm in no way saying the WAR changes are good, and I fully expect a tonne of improvement in 4.1 just like it got in 2.1

if anything, i would have prefered potency nerfs instead of outright changing how the class plays.

even at lvl 60, war is completely different from lvl 60 heavensward war. which is just a bit frusterating when its doing the same thing just...more awkward

That's really strange too because IMO DRK got gimped the most in Stormblood.

i dont entirely think so. Drk didnt change too much, it just didnt improve a whole lot. it lost delirum and a few other things, but the core of drk is still the same.

whereas war is just a complete 180 thats very different from how it used to be

If you run a company and 1 employee can do every single job in your company nearly perfect. Would you want that 1 employee to be worse at his job or would you rather have his colleagues brought up to his level?

You're not worse at your job, you're better. Basically, you complain about paying more taxes because your income has increased.
