I'm going to assume this post isn't trolling and say as much as I crave LGBT representation, I don't think either of the two examples you provided are even close to be LGBT. That's not to assume everyone's hetero, but hugs aren't really indicative of sexual or romantic orientation.

There's some cheeky homo shenanigans in Kugane's Bokaisen Hot Springs, but imo it's still kind of along the lines of LGBT (in this case gay) people being the joke.

I thought it was, while a clichee, pretty funny. And I am gay myself. The simpson reference on top of it killed me.

If there was ever to be homosexual character that has an actually important role, I'd want them to be a character with personality and not just gay.
I feel like this is something many game devs can't get right. Everytime a person is gay, all their qualities are reduced to that. The person shows pretty much nothing else beside their sexuality. If a main character in XIV would be like that, I'd be upset.
Nier's Emil would be a prime example of how it should be handled. His sexuality not being a plot point whatsoever, it's a part of him but it's not what makes him who he is.

As for OP, sorry, my gaydar didn't go off in that moment. Confirmed not lesbians.

Seriously guys, XIV has been mostly a story about Eorzea vs The Garlean occupation. Love and sex is not the main theme here.
For all that I care Thancred could be dry humping Y'shtola while she pegs Alphinaud right before every time we enter the Rising Stones (and of course Krile watchs laughing at Alphy). I don't care about it, it's irrelevant to the plot.

They are the Scions, the true most popoto characters in the story. I'd rather see them evolve and grow in me (no pun intended) than just be reduced (even more) to just mere lgbt tokens or straight tokens or whatever. If we go by the inclusion "rule" none of us is represented in this story because most of us (there has to be someone I bet) haven't lived through a military occupation in our country.

Can we just have them get to be good characters that are relevant to the plot instead of being fetch quest masters, very please?

Oh and Alisaie has Lyse stay behind during a certain Yanxia quest but is perfectly fine with other people coming with and getting in harm's way. Even getting embarrassed when everyone take's note of the fact that she didn't want Lyse to come with.
