ok OP. i myself i'm not a hardcore player and doubt i will ever kill ifrit hyper atm, but there is a few reasons for this one i'm not good enough, but to counter this there is a ifrit 25? no? so its not like i can't experience ifrit, you say you are a game designer, so surely you know how this works, content gets made, and it gets made really hard, your hardcore players play it they are kinda your testers, they play it, they smash it, and while they do this they show the dev's everything about the content that they never figured out in their own testing. (you can get alot more players playing and testing content, than you can pay dev's, as long as it is ready for release the player base will give you the info on the details) so in time this content will be nerfed and you and me will get a go, and even win, yay, and new content will come out, for hardcore players, who will test it and play it and smash it, and in time it will be nerfed for me and you as new content comes out, anyway as a game designer i'm sure you can see patterns. so do you see this pattern? this is not new for FF this is how MMO's work new content for hardcore players, that is then nerfed for everyone else, the term nerf didn't come out for what they do to our class (although i can understand why ppl would think it did) it came out for what they do to content

What I have shown you is reality. What you remember, that is the illusion.

It's currently high tier, endgame content, it's supposed to take a lot of resources and skill. My LS is pretty small and low-key but we're gonna try our best to beat Ifrit. A few of us have tried it out already in a pickup group and instead of coming off as completely impossible it feels VERY doable with a ragtag group with some practice. The biggest hurdles (correct me if I'm wrong, please) are surviving/recovering from Hellfire and Eruption/Radiant Plume and how some people will have lag worse than others and therefore have a very tough time surviving. The devs have made a thread specifically for the lag issue so you and your friends can provide their information for that so they can get the problem fixed ASAP.

Honestly, you have been making a lot of threads like this recently and it is getting tougher to sympathize. Coming off of FF11 and playing with a small group of friends there and here, as long as you have a full party of trustworthy players with a decent spread of classes that can adapt and practice a tough fight, you should be able to clear anything. It's even easier to practice things in this game because there's no stupid 3-day or more lockouts.

the fight is fine in my opinion even thou i got killed by ifrit alot when we tried it.

it slices, it dices, it makes julienne kittens °-°

i like a good challenge and it is pretty exciteing to fight him ^~^
even if my tail is burned to a crisp by now im going back for more

great items should always require great effort in an MMO or else why even bother?
and the people who beat him have every right to be proud of their treasures and to display them if they wish to.

R25 fight is not repeatable, and doesn't apply. What I would have liked is a R40 Ifrit fight option.

My Linkshell has beaten ifrit with 23 different members rotating in.

The fight is easily doable you just have to know what you are doing, be proactive instead of reactive.

The lag is a massive issue, but it is easily countered by knowing the fight. Ifrit is not random it is honestly highly predicable. Its Weaponskills are time intervals, the fight follows patterns (example after a jump it will immediately do 1 normal attack if tank in range then a weaponskill, Plums if ifrit is in the same spot are always in the same spot.)

Know where to move, When to attack, When to cast and ifrit is a joke to kill.

Also there are Japaneses Pickup group every night, Na/Eu still refuse to do it like that, and they are fairly successful.

If Pick-up groups and my linkshell can do the fight with so many people alternating in, the fight is not hard once it is figured out and no way impossible. The fight should not be simplified in anyway, players unable to beat it need to rise up to meet the challenge.

It's not that hard to give players the option to have a moderately easier fight and have no "unique drops" happen because of the settings. Quite simple, really. (I do not understand why the detractors can't wrap their heads around the idea of having three difficulty settings for the ifrit fight, with the highest setting being the only one that drops the ifrit gear...)
We already have that though; the other fight is Ifrit 25.

If I beat Ifrit with 6 people, no lancers, will that shut anyone up about difficulty?

FOR THE LOVE OF HELL AND HEAVEN, STOP SAYING THAT THE RANK 25 FIGHT ACTUALLY APPLIES AS SCALEABLE DIFFICULTY CONTENT. It's not, okay?

You people are seriously stupid-arse trolls if you keep thinking that.

For the sake of clarity, SCALING means the ability to adjust a function or feature...

You know how singleplayer RPGs and some MMOs have "Easy", "Normal", "Hard", "Insane"? THAT is what I am talking about, not "The R25 Ifrit Fight".

Additionally, it is a requirement for a party member to have the R25 Ifrit quest to even access that, which means it is not actual scaling content.

    Dummkopfs.
