Such negativity! Relaaax. Let people ask for whatever and go on with your life. No sense getting bent outta shape and antagonizing people~
Most of the work is already done! They are already using weapons and wearing different pieces of armor as NPCs, the most they would HAVE to do is add customization to the game. Also just them adding the Au'Ra as a playable race screwed with the story as it was. They start the same as any other race in the game. We never stepped foot into Doma or knew of their race till the end of 2.0. So how in hell did the playable one even get to Eorzea in the first place. See how much your story makes sense when you are helping them as a brand new one?
I was asking you to do any research neither. I was simply asking you to prove me wrong.
This is a discussion forum. It's made for discussion, and discussion is made of opinions pro and against an argument. If you want to make your requests without the interference of those who think it can't happen or shouldn't happen, I suggest you get a blog or a tumblr and lock the content, that way you can toot your horn without counterpoints all you want.Have you considered just letting people have their requests without being that one person who just has to say it cant happen? As the viera request thread has shown it adds nothing to have the whole "IT CANT HAPPEN" Or "I DONT WANT IT TO HAPPEN" song and dance and just makes people argue then get mad.
Au Ra are not beastmen. They do not impact the story as it's written. Most of the work is already done! They are already using weapons and wearing different pieces of armor as NPCs, the most they would HAVE to do is add customization to the game. Also just them adding the Au'Ra as a playable race screwed with the story as it was. They start the same as any other race in the game. Also, the "most of the work is already done" shows me that you aren't very familiar with game development.
Implementing a race as NPC and implementing it as player characters is in an entirely different order of magnitude in terms of work loads and resources. Almost none of the work is already done.
As NPCs that serve basically only as targets and with very limited participation to cutscenes, they can use a low definition skeleton and limited rigs. They have a very limited selection of equipment that is specifically chosen because it works with how they're designed.
In order to become playable all that would need to be overhauled, all equipment would need extensive redesign/adaptation. Even just the big beard/mane thing they have would cause massive clipping issues with existing equipment and existing animations.

Indeed it is and saying "I dont want this race because" is fine to say but "This race just cant happen because I say so" is not.
Because you hold no authority you have no ability to say something cant be added to the game but you are able to state your opinion on why you dont want it.
Saying you dont want it because you feel it does not work in the story thats fine but saying it cant because the story does not allow it is not really your call.
We are talking about requesting a race that is compatible with anything other races can do minus helmets and is already in the game, not some random idea so its not like people are requesting some wild ass race from the blue.
Also its a discussion forum and thus you cant parade around trying to shut others down by saying it cant happen.
Oh hey nothing was here
And you're not being very discussion-worthy with your snide comments and ultimatums. Honestly, you've said your piece and clearly aren't actually interested in any form of discussion besides repeating your assertion that it's impossible.
It's not your place to say whether it's possible or not, though. You're not SE.
Please no. We absolutely do not need truly animalistic playable races. It would really change the game, and make a total mockery of the existing game lore. They may as well make goblins, sylphs, Ixal, and all the others playable, including the various mutant ninja turtles, and talking fish. Please, no. Just no.

I'm afraid that it's not up to you to decide whether I can say something or not, as long as I abide to the rules of the forum, which I obviously am.
No one here holds any authority unless they're marked as developers or reps. By your logic, no one here should say anything. According to my view of the story, and my (admittedly mostly indirect) experience in the industry, the possibility of this to happen are very close to zero, and I'll say exactly that.Because you hold no authority you have no ability to say something cant be added to the game but you are able to state your opinion on why you dont want it.
You may not like being shut down, but that's an entirely valid form of discussion. I'm not here to please anyone. Also its a discussion forum and thus you cant parade around trying to shut others down by saying it cant happen.
I'm not sure why you expected to be able to say something that would make me argue otherwise or drop my argument?

A relatively normal human body with a completely animalistic head is just plain wrong, it doesn't make sense logically, physically or from a story or lore point of view. More than that it would be visually completely incongruous. This NPC beast race should never be elevated to playable status, it really wouldn't fit the game.
