Sprint: The nerf nobody wanted

they changed it from a out of combat ability (for most) to something everyone can actually use in combat. If you want to get somewhere fast use your mount

and that is a fine point in terms of long distance travel. however, short distance perspective, once one thinks about how often they needed to go from point A to point B in the game, id rather just run short distances than awkwardly mount and dismount to the location i wanted to go.

i know at first sight it seems that a majority of us wants the old sprint system back, but i can tell you right now that this is not the case. you have no reason to defend what the developers have done.
