    still anti social

when I'm in town for whatever reason I'll do a simple shout letting people know I'm looking for a LS. I don't spam chat and I think I word it right. I then wait a little bit before I go about my business. I have yet to get a single response. I do enjoy the solo aspect a little more then partying but I love talking with people and not being able to find a group to socialize with is taking some of the fun out of the game for me.

You got to know starting out:
    1) until the new server structure is complete, no one can kick you from a LS unless you are standing in front of them. So if you go offline for a long time/quit the game, then you're taking up a spot on the LS roster that could be used by someone active. Alas, there is a limit to the maximum number of LS members in a single shell.

2)There are server specific boards on these forums. Go to yours for Karnak, and there should be a topic in there for Linkshells on your server. You can also run a google search. Of course LS' die frequently. They did in FFXI too, but find one you like, and if it looks alive enough for you, apply. Give it a couple days and you should be fine.

ALSO, THE STAR ONIONS IS THE AWESOME. Lindblum <3

I'll try the suggestions you guys have given me. I still think you should be able to find an LS simply by asking around in game but sometimes it doesn't go that way.

    you should BUT
alot of players who "shout for a shell" arent exactly the kind people want in their shells
thus why you get ignored doing it

kinda like people who shout their recruitment in town, most players wont touch that

Conversely, I'd be a bit reticent about joining a LS that immediately invites me "sight unseen".

It's like a blind invite in reverse lol.

I prefer to have some kind of conversation with LS/Guild/Clan/Etc leaders before I join - even if I've applied on their site. An application is kinda one-sided and doesn't really give you a feel. I find the best, most honest and direct answers come from an actual conversation where you're asking questions off the cuff and their answers can't be scripted. I've made good decisions about 80% of the time that way.

It's the difference between LS leaders/officers trying to recruit good people who will improve the experience for all LS members, and those just trying to cram as many warm bodies in as possible, as quickly as they can.

I turn down blind invites without even thinking about it.

I usually get pearls thrown on me in parties when they see I'm not wearing one; try that?

That seems like a pretty valid idea, unless of course the party's botched in some way. Ha ha ha.

I am the type of person who doesn't invite strangers to my LS, one of the reason is that we're either real life friends, friends of friends, or friends from FFXI.

To get invited into a Linkshell, I think you will have more chance if you first make friends with that person. Personally, I MIGHT invite someone if I get to know them a little, and like their personality, and/or talk to them enough to have a feeling that they're not an asshole. For a total stranger shouting in Ul'dah? No way. I can't predict what kind of person they are. And yeah I think due to poor LS management system/option we have now, fewer people are willing to pick up a stranger.
