The glamour system is awful. We deserve an overhaul.

A simple sort button would be nice.

Not that i mean all the time you spend dealing with 8 retainers waiting for menus to load and such, and that is not even enough room, it is barely functional.

It seems the devs don't actually know what we want. Here is Blade & Soul, a free two play MMO. Their Wardrobe system works by listing every possible "armour" and allowing you to move any outfits you acquired into it. You can pull them out at any time, provided you're subscribed. I fail to see how a triple A game like FFXIV cannot basically copy this system. The server excuse is just annoying at this point. Weren't they relocated to upgrade them? All this comes across as is Square Enix knowing retain subscriptions would decline.



That isn't the argument though. At least it isn't mine. I adore both the Paladin and Dark Knight AF outfits yet I'm unable to wear both if I want to maintain a progressive ilvl. If I choose Paladin, both Warrior and Dark Knight default to whatever the raid gear is. So instead of enjoying all the unique job glamours, I usually end up shelving them fairly quickly.

So how come a f2p mno can make inventory functional and this game can't? Or look at runescape with the currency tabs

Setup a glamour NPC OR Enhance the Armoire. Present all of your gear to the NPC. It records and spiritbonds everything you present to it. You can then discard or store the item. You will also obtain a journal or magazine. The magazine can hold say 20 of each slot. 20 Weapons. 20 Tops. 20 Pants. This is to limit the number of checks the system has to do. Check what items were selected and that they have been recorded in your armoire to stop cheating. You must go to the NPC/Armoire if you want to add or change the immediately available outfits, so that it doesn't become a map by map load in issue. Don't like being limited to 20 choices? Build yourself a Vanity in your FC, Home or apartment! Spend hours making the best look.

Feels like this is an easy compromise.

From a development standpoint, playing dress up probably ranks pretty low on the priority list when preparing for an expansion launch.

or they could do something like Eq2 , Rift, lotro and others have done

a 2nd inventory , called Wardrobe / glamour .....and is saved based around your actual JOB and not based on actual gear

for example PLD and DRK ,omega fencing gear, with pld u put all your new Af3 on that slots and save the job config , ditto for drk ...and u will be able to look like a pld or a drk.

Yoshi P said today they didn't want to do glamor log book because it would make save files bigger and they are constantly rewriting the save file every time you do zone or do something which would tax the servers too much. Here is a solution to that problem. Would it be possible to only write to the glamor log file if a change occurs that effects the glamor log such as getting a new piece of gear. Otherwise do not write to this file when changing zones or other stuff that causes a full save file rewrite.

If they used one row of each part in the Armoury to enable us to, say, allocate 5 outfits too, I would be happy. It wouldn't consume any more inventory/file size than before.

I'd rather they didn't reallocate resources to an alternate glamour system when the one we have works fine. It isn't the most convenient, but it works.

The thing I wish they WOULD fix is job specific glam for any shared jobs(tank/healer) being ruined if you try to play multiple roles. I wanna be able glam AF3 for PLD, AF3 for DRK and AF3 for WAR on one higher ilvl gearset(such as thr Omega set).

That is what everyone wants. The system does not "Work Fine" specifically because it is horrifically restrictive with concern to glamouring gear that is shared between Jobs. This is what absolutely everyone is asking them to fix by improving the system. To say it works fine only to then chime in and repeat the same complaint as everyone else is a downright oxymoron.

It's not perfect, but it's better than no glamour at all. As for restrictions on gear, restrictions are necessary for AF and Job-specific gear at least, because that is the whole purpose of AF in the first place!

Allowing another Job or class to equip it, even for glamour, completely throws that whole idea out the window. Which is why the glamour system has Job restrictions on it. Given that Yoshi stated this ages ago it shows he's pretty firm on this subject (and rightly so), so I do not see that changing at all.

It doesn't really matter how they treat the AF gear - because nobody uses it for glamour anyway. Only people who use the AF stuff at all are those who haven't got anything better.
