Best combo. Hope the game won't just forget about her now that we move out of Dravania and Coerthas. Like after Zenos beats us we ask Matoya if she knows some secret to beat him up and she goes like: Well, go the Othard and gear up like he did, duh.
Also, we never saw her since Alisaie joined the team.
She can be: Ah, cool. Louiusoix's grandson is back.
Al: No, I'm her granddaughter. See, my ribbon is red.

Be funny and actually a big deal if they killed the WOL - your character-. But instead of a gameover your soul has to go thur hell - dungeons- to get your body back. This does one of a few things.. one, it gives us a REAL reason to this force to be awed with. Pretty much makes us awesome in story instead of being awesome just in gameplay while we're some kid watching shit in story. Two like seriously. How hype would that be if you're killed? Makes the villain THAT much of a badass and when you come back, better, stronger, and pissed makes YOU that much more amazing.. and it'll happen within the actual plot instead of just gameplay. Three... cause the WOL needs to do something awesome within the storyline and not just be awesome in gameplay. Make us feel like the WOL.

I actually had an idea like this a while ago, but with Varis. You die and you have to use the Phantom Train to get back. With Suplex and all that. I mean we need something for 5.0 as well. Also we need Zorn and Thron to show up. I have a whole bunch of ideas for 5.0 The beast tribes, the primals, the two cities, the classes. I just need someone to take notes.
And so has Zack but the games were several years old by then. Zack's death is a given but you don't see either die in any trailers, not even for media that shows highlights of their games. I think curtain call has one for FF7, but again, you didn't see Aeris run through in any TV spots.

Scion wise, Krile would be my assumption. I don't see the twins getting killed, nor Y'Shtola at this point. I DO think Matoya will figure into Y'Shtola's scenario here though, somewhere.
Gosetsu, I figure, would probably be more likely than Yugiri on the Doma front.
Alliance wise, I do think at least one of the core alliance members will die. Raubahn seems the most likely.
Y'shtola is the only Scion that has ever mattered. The Scions as a group don't matter (is this the UN?). If Y'shtola dies, I want the option to switch to the Garlean side and my own battleship (Deathstar) to crush Uldah and Gridania. The airship will also keep me out of Aymeric's creepy reach.
Tataru is just a pathetic mascot trotted out for the kiddies. Her clothing gifts are worse than Grandma's Christmas sweaters.
Can't lie, Y'shtola dying would be perfect, her fanboys are the worse by far. I wonder how many she'd have if the explosion rendered her ugly instead of blind?
That would be perfect, something actually tragic happening to you, while hard to pull off, is the only way they can do another dramatic 'death'. tired of them just knocking out supporting characters for the cheap feels.like seriously.

The fact we're discussing this in a thread is an issue with FFXIV's overall storytelling.
I don't think it's Raubahn, because plot armor. It would sooner be Pipin.
I also agree that Y'shtola is safe. Her injury from the trailer is more than likely just a way to keep her from making the journey to Doma.
I expect Alphinaud to stay behind to keep the general Scion work, but he's less safe the Shtola.
That said, one scene with Gotsetsu and I immediately thought, "How long till you die horribly?" Since the last time we got a great Roe NPC, Moenbryda, she died one patch later. And Gotsestu is a bubbly, hornorable guy (like Haurchefant) and an old, grizzled veteran. I think he's doomed.
