I don't understand the people who act as if healers that don't DPS are in any way capable of being considered a good healer.

In any sort of objective-based group activity, whether that be work or play, a person that is excellent at their job is capable of performing their function and enhances their group members' performance by taking actions or providing feedback that sit outside of their expected function. A person that is good/average at their job is capable of performing their function and is able to enhance the group's performance to a lesser extent due to a lack of experience/knowledge outside of their function. This sort of person can provide vague suggestions on what can be done to achieve the goal, but require feedback from their group to formulate a more specific solution. In comparison, a person that does just the bare minimum required of them and is averse to receiving feedback on how they can improve is mediocre at best.

This 100%, People assess what they do as part of their ROLE to decide if they are doing correct or not (See people not dying as some sort of false proof they did good) and refuse to look at the big picture of how much they actually contribute to the party as a whole, they don't want to do more they want to do the bare minimum and even worse they act like they should be praised for it.

well the majority of the player base plays the game casually and isn't interested in maximizing damage. So yeah, making it through content and playing occasional is good enough for them, and a lot of players. No one died, hurray! I think some of you guys are taking it way to seriously. I mean, enjoy the game however you like, but dont bring down other players for playing how they like.

If you don't like randoms in DF, form your own party.

    I hate this argument.

It isn't about having an issue with random people, it's about having an issue with lazy people.

Moreover, the argument can go both ways. Want to have your own long expert roulette filled with people playing sub-optimally? Form your own party.

The reverse can also be said: IF you don't like randoms expecting more out of you in DF, form your own party

Well, no. What he's saying is that if you're doing the bare minimum, you don't really deserve any actual praise or qualify to call yourself "good" at something. Expecting otherwise is like if you were working in a kitchen with other people making a full-course meal and then going "Well, I washed the lettuce like I was told! Praise me, I'm good at my job!" despite other people doing all the other work because you didn't take the initiative to do anything outside of what Head Chef Bob told you to do (washing the lettuce) and instead interpreted the lack of further required tasks as "chill mode time".

I've no problem with people wanting to play super casually. Just be aware of where you actually are in terms of proficiency and don't get mad if people call you mediocre at your job.

A more accurate use of your kitchen analogy would be, a healer that only heals is the chef who prepares a full course meal. A healer who dps's as well as heals is the chef who on top of the full course meal also prepares a desert on the house.

Well, I was more making the implication that the full course is being made by multiple people in a kitchen rather than a single person. But dessert is nice.
