Yes, make repairs easy-mode by going through the most monotonous and lengthy grind in the game... of course that's the solution everyone was looking for.I don't see a problem with the current system.
Its like all of the sudden all the "easy mode" players are going crazy because they go out and dies a few time then "OMG" they have to take 2 minutes to repair there gear. Not to mention, everyones ideas here just take more and more away from the crafters.
You want easy mode repairs, level a craft. I don't understand how so many people are claiming it was or is so difficult to to get repairs. I garuntee you were the issue in that situation. I literally just stpped in a main traffic area, set my gaming laptop down, went to the restroom, returned, and everything was repaired. I never even offered money 1/2 the time, I always offered the repair item or dark matter for my fee. If it was a really really slow time of day, I simply send a shout. I may even send a tell for a particular craft. But who doesn't have 3 friends for every craft at 50 after a short time in game?
No need to attempt to make everyone suffer because your either incappable of making friends or aquantences in an MMO or are too lazy to level a craft.
No.
Most people don't want XP loss penalty for getting KO'd. In FFXI it was a LOT of XP. Even with the moghancements, it was still an exhorbitant price to pay.
Gil is so easy in FFXIV.
I don't have any problem with repairs.
Now people want crafters to meld their materia and craft gear for them. If you don't want to craft that's your choice. If you don't want to tip in gil, that's fine, but would it really kill you to offer a stack or two of crystals or shards?
I'm not saying that crafters need money from repairing. It takes a very long time to level crafting jobs. I wish people would take that into account when they get a crafter to do something for them. Offering one dark matter for a repair is BS!
Tip your wait staff!!
isn't funny. you would tip a waiter, but not the person in the fish and chip shop. anyway sorry off topicMost people don't want XP loss penalty for getting KO'd. In FFXI it was a LOT of XP. Even with the moghancements, it was still an exhorbitant price to pay.

if crafter want paying for repairs they should lower there expectations, the NPC is your competition if you don't compete with them you can't expect to be chosen to do the job
What I have shown you is reality. What you remember, that is the illusion.
I hate gear repair. I hate that I can't trade damaged gear. older stuff that I want to pass down to my mule that costs 2k on market, i could buy for 4k, or have osmoen repair it for 5k. The whole hand-me-down process was important and a key thing in ffxi, and they've made it a giant pain in the ass for ffxiv. I hope it goes away. Pocket Hockey is a 50CNJ, but Dong Pong is a 32THM. Why the hell can't I just trade the gear over without first paying a fortune to someone to repair it. And I can't even use the npc, I have to get it done by a player.

I liked xp loss. It felt like real penalty for dying. They need to bring it back. It sets you back what, 15min? in ffxi it could set you back an hour or more.I never thought in a MILLION umbral eras that I'd say this... but if the only thing keeping gear damage legitimate is a death penalty? F**k it. EXP loss takes a little time and effort to get back (even though it sucks to do because it feels like you've lost something you're entitled to, something you've earned.) Gear Damage takes money - which you need to farm/craft/gather back - which will damage gear, which will need to be fixed, which will require money, which requires....blahblahblah. And on top of that, it takes the same amount of time (probably MORE than) a party would, which I could do for free, on my own class, without any other resources and an empty bank.
I HATE to say this.... EXP loss seems like the lesser evil ><

The price of repairs is fine, what they really need to do is increase the gathering rate of Dark Matter.
Guys. Chill. CRAFTERS AND PLAYERS NEED INCENTIVE TO INTERACT. So please make npc repairs higher, so that other playeras can repair the armor.
kthxbye,
well seeing as how making equipment is much easier now and cost way less shards and items I would recommend you make your gil off selling crafted items, they are in huge demand now and very easy to craftthe price is so low it might as well cost nothing. Why would anyone ever repair someones gear for under 5k? It's just a waste of time. I know that you still need actual people to repair gear up to 100% before you can trade it, but that simple is not enough business to keep someone trying to do repairs all day for people. Gear repair should scale with gear level like everything else.... I think it does that now actually. It just has the max too low to even be noticeable.
Is it posted somewhere the logic of why we can not trade gear unless it is at 100%. I can't think of why this is needed. I'm sure its been over posted 100 times. this subject has to be pretty common.
------------------------------------------------------
10~ = 2k max
20~ = 5k max
30~ = 10k max
40~ = 15k max
RARE/EX = 25k max
yeaaaahhh ok, so you are saying that running around repairing AFK players or retainer held items is the type of interaction crafters need with non-crafters? Since patch crafter need/interaction has exploded.
Cry more.
No seriously, cry more, not everyone walks around with 40mill in their pocket, just because you want to bleed people dry with your repair costs doesn't mean everyone should suffer, seriously, who ever thought it was a bright idea to have an economy entirely driven by a community where majority of people never even had a job.
Maybe if you didn't ask for 20k to repair a staff that can be bought for 40 there wouldn't be as much of an issue, and don't act like "hurr I have to make money durr" it's not like you're getting nothing for a repair, there's the EXP too, and to anyone moaning they're not charging out the wazoo, I remember on more than a few occasions sitting in uldah for a couple hours begging for someone to repair my gear at any price, I don't have the time or the energy to waste half an hour for someone to feel assed enough to repair a piece of my gear when I only have an hour to play alltogether, and it sure as hell doesn't help if I have to spend half my gill to repair one piece of gear, so don't like it? lower your prices, be competitive with the NPCs, don't just bitch they're too cheap, jesus, all I see in this game are moaners and winers.
