Hell no...........instead of just having a useless weapon at 0% they could do a three staged degradation.
So you craft a new Winglet Sword, you go out grind for hours die a few times and low and behold your New sword hits 0% your new sword now becomes a Notched Winglet sword slashing Damage is now 40 instead of 100. no big deal right so you keep going for a few more hours, and you Die a few more times. Your Notched Winglet Sword hits 0% its now a Broken Winglet Sword Slashing damage is now 15% and all stats are halved.
Not only would this system give new visual indicators on weapons that are broken and notched, it would also give more time to repair and please crafters as only they can take a notched sword and repair it to its previous state.
if i bought dark matter and put that in the bazzar as well as enough gil to add up to the same price that a NPC would charge for a repair, would any crafter stop and repair me? no. so i'll stick to NPC's
What I have shown you is reality. What you remember, that is the illusion.
How about this idea:
Items repaired by a crafter degrade at a slower rate than those repaired by an NPC??
Sorry if someone else already suggested, I haven't read all the posts since my last one.
I think the price is just fine. :\
You still need crafters to trade gear and what not and fix your stuff out in the field as mentioned. Someone in your party may be a crafter and be able to fix your stuff while you are out and about! I don't see a problem.
