Is anyone else worried that this downtime might have a negative impact on the game?

You know, I think the player fanbase will keep FFXIV alive. It is basically what kept FFXI alive until they started release content expansions. XI has grown since then to have a fairly stable population.

XIV was hurting from the very beginning from the high PC requirements. That weeded out quite a few ppl because they couldn't play the game at all!

Then ppl slowly dropped out for performance issues, lack of content, lack of quests and the grinding.

Content is the main thing thats wrong with XIV. And the overall all empty feeling the game has not because of the lack of ppl playing but villages that are sparsely filled with no quests that start there is rather disappointing. There is nothing that makes the town feel alive!

And c'mon SE let's get some NPC's that walk or pace about. People don't stand around all day! How about few NPC's that are in a certain area at a certain time of day. Let's make this game feel alive! Get some AI on some NPC's mobs where they actively hunt and fight each other!

The game just feels like a shell of a game at this point without some content. There is no soul in it to keep ppl coming back for more other than the story quests. Which is the main reason I love SE MMO's so much. They really know how to tell a story. But there are so few of them at this point! I understand these quests take alot more time to make.

But if I have to resort to adventuring to farm and get crafting supplies as a source of entertainment. There is something fundamentally wrong.

We need scary NM roaming around in the newbies area's to keep us alert! We need more places to visit to give us a need to break out the Chocobo's and Airships! Some ppl may think they should break out the Chocobo's now, but you know they are holding on to them until they release the other areas because there isn't much point right now except to go to Mor Dohna, Coerthas. :P.

Compelling dungeons with interesting gimicks to bring ppl out to see them. PPl should initiallyl come out to dungeons to explore not just for the loot.

Square I love your products so much because you put so much time and care into making them. Good Quality stuff. Show us what Square is made of! So ppl can have a reason to come back!

What surprises me the most is how ppl are in such an uproar over this game, making threats of leaving and not coming back when they have all this time been playing a game for free. XIV is missing alot of things,but even in it's current state it is by far better than any free 2 play game at this point. Ppl are so quick to forget that they are trying to fix their mistake make a worthy game before they start charging again.

when they do start up the subscription I'm sure many ppl will try to make a point and leave. Why ppl have to make a scene to be noticed is beyond me. All I can say is I will be here either way enjoying they game they are not.
