I heard Raynier saw the sun for the first time since September. So this downtime is actually a good thing.

SE should get together a big patch and release it a bit after servers are back up to make up for their down time and potential loss of player base. I am not too worried about the servers being down because as stated in Letter from the Producer VI the long awaited company system will make it's appearance soon and if it is as great as SE is making it seem then that should bring some old players back to try it out at least.
As for you Deviant and others in Elite, don't feed the Troll. By Trolling back you're encouraging Yarr to Troll more. But hey if you really don't care then go ahead it's pretty entertaining to read while the servers are down.

haha to Deviant1 that was pretty funny. I cant believe no one noticed that, including myself, until now. Thanks for the laugh lol
Hmm what you and your hand discuss is not really our concern. Besides, the big picture? Can you see anything beyond your ego?
As for the game, well if people leave, i hope its the trolls like yarr that go. Man this would be a great game with a little more content, and and a little less Yarr and his little troll followers.
(heh you troll me, i'll troll you, aint life grand!)
Anyone confused as to why I left Elite??
As for the OP, I honestly don't care how long it takes for the game to come back and how long til the next update. Those people have been through a lot the past week. I think regrouping and being there as a community is more important for them, than turning the servers back on and adding more content. If we lose players that's fine by me, those people aren't the kind of people I want playing next to me anyways.
On the other hand I understand they are a business and are in the business to make money. They have people working on this and I think combined with that and our (as a gaming community) understanding and patience will make a huge difference.
Is this really necessary?? Ever hear the saying 2 wrongs don't make a right. I would say I'm surprised by you Dev, but then again...not really. You don't know when to WAX ON, MOUTH OFF! either..Thanks YarrOnce again proof that our reputation for kicking butt and taking names is valid...
As for being jealous? spare me, now i got to go all Mr. Myagi on you.
We make sacred pact. I promise teach 'forum karate' to you, you promise learn. I say, you do, no questions.
NOW STFU!
Yarr: I can't believe this. I cannot believe this.
Deviant1: What?
Yarr: What you just got me into in there.
Deviant1: Huh?
Yarr: You said you were going to make things better for me.
Deviant1: But I did.
Yarr: How?
Deviant1: How? Just saved you two months beating.
Yarr: Oh great now I really have something to look forward to.
Wax on, mouth off!
I agree with you on this Solara. I just think the members of Elite have a little growing up to do.
Cobra Kai Dojo for life.

I think when the servers are back up, there will be content to go along with it, but I also don't expect the servers to be up for another week and a half - two weeks. Japan is in a pretty bad state.
Yeah I believe Yoshi's post to be a little over enthusiastic. But I'm sure they are anxious to get back to work. I really think the people that have made it this far (with the exception of a few) will hang in there. I know people want more content and all these changes but we've waited this long. I would like to think most of us are patient enough to wait out the disaster and let Japan and it's people get back on their feet again. I plan on coming back and I'm playing Dragon Age 2. I know it's not Rift or any other MMO competitor, but I put a lot of time int XIV and 80 bucks on the CE, and I support SE. I'm not a fan-girl. I just believe in them and what they are capable of.
I agree it wont hurt them to have the servers down for ffxiv because its free atm, i wouldnt be surprised to see ffxi back before xiv simply because they are loosing money there if ppl start to complain about time lost and there still being a fee to pay...Financially, it doesn't really do anything since no one's paying for this game anyway. It may hurt the game in the areas of word-of-mouth and visibility in the public consciousness, but other than that it shouldn't be that bad. Population will most likely take a hit, but the situation is still similar to before the servers went down: Most of the people playing this game are the ones that really like it despite its flaws. A week of downtime will not turn that base away.
The major event that will give this game a boost is the PS3 launch, and that's gonna happen eventually, with or without downtime.
