How would you guys like a FFXI expansion

Well XI Mobile still has a shot at coming out, even if its ran through Nexon. However I wouldn't mind XI getting a side story here maybe something to the likes of how Abyssea was introduced; while I didn't like the game-play changes it brought, the story concept would certainly fit of alternate reality/dimension theme.

Vana'diel and Hydaelyn are not the same world. Shantotto is capable of traversing dimensions due to the magic she learned in 'A Shantotto Ascension.'

^This. The development team already came out long ago and stated that Vana'diel and Hydaelyn are separate worlds which are not connected (Shantotto and Iroha's appearances in Hydaelyn being the result of trans-dimensional hi-jinks that are exceptional circumstances, not the rule):

A: Maehiro: To be absolutely clear, there is no direct connection between FFXIV’s Hydaelyn and FFXII’s Ivalice or even FFXI’s Vana’diel. They are not the same world in different dimensions or time—they are their own separate worlds. However, there are certain connections to people or objects that appear in these other worlds that figure into the story of FFXIV as it has been conceived and is being told.

Of course we're now getting an 'Ivalice-themed' raid in Stormblood, but again that is almost definetely not going to be the Ivalice somehow plonked into Hydaelyn, it will be a Hydaelyn-lore-based area which happens to reference FFXII/Ivalice in theme and enemies like the Crystal Tower not being literally the FFIII final dungeon but an Allagan structure (and Xande not being the FFIII antagonist but the Allag Empire's former emperor). Hence I do not see a 'FFXI-themed' expansion ever being added.

FFXIV already takes tons of ideas from FFXI anyway (player races, beastmen, numerous enemies like crawlers, mandragoras, goobbues and dhalmels etc), so it makes even less sense to make a FFXI-centric expansion. FFXIV will never be FFXI-2, it's time to accept that.

If they do anything ffxi related I'd rather it be a throwback type of content rather than a full expansion. Maybe the 24 man raid be based on dynamis or promyvion. Something like that.

This. SO MUCH THIS. I don't want FFXI again. I retired from that game. I just want content that's a throwback to the days of yore lol. Dynamis 24man raid would be more than okay with me, or Promvion - Vahzl. Even assault or something that requires 24man.

I would love to see a call back to XI (not unlike Crystal Tower or Return to Ivalice).

It would be great to see Sea, Sky, or Limbus-themed 24 mans.
