I'm around 260. Ruin III outside of DWT is 10% of your total mp. There's no way every ruin cast is a ruin III.Well possibly for some people... but to be honest
....I never run out of Ruin 3 spam even in Raids,
The only time I've come close is the Lava Scorpion Fight at the end in Sohm Al Hard.
Yeah constant Ruin 3 spam is the norm, not the exception. Admittedly though I don't know what your iLvL is... if you're still at iLvl 200 it may not be possible at that Gear Score.


No not every cast..... it's about 2-3... then something else... then 2-3 then something else... another 2-3 then a DWT... then Aetherflow.
If you start to run a little low you can always use a couple lifesteals.
Honestly though I have piety melds, so it doesn't affect me and I'm always spamming Ruin 3s like that.... but may be different from your shoes. Its possible I may be judging that from my own character and not yours.
And since they also apparently changed Piety and how it works in 4.0.... I can't even guarantee that presently.

Last time I felt this violated was when I'd been promised 2 new egi's for over a year (one specifically named 2nd by description), found out we got jack, was promised a glamour system to try and calm us down which then didn't happen for another year and a half.

Yoshi P just can't let summoner be awesome for long can he? Why would you nerf a class with already low potency skills, a class that's heavily dependent on damage over time and fester nerf what was the point? honestly, this has to be changed before release that's just ridiculous because whats the point in een using it when painflare doesn't require dots unless it was a mistranslation. They really don't know what to do with SMN anymore, I feel like we're transforming into this weird state between burst and dots, single target and AoE jack of all trades master of none, but we don't need a job that can do two things half as good as others. I would be less worried about the AoE if bahamuts akh morn didn't split. Bane was enough (again whats the point it's damage over time ffs and doesn't last that long). And rng on a smn? why? just why especially for ruin.
To balance this they either need to increase Bahamuts duration, or give us a way to reset his timer or reduce aetherflow cd.

Honestly? I'm actually mostly happy with these changes and new additions. The AoE damage of a Summoner seems to be taking the biggest hit, but let's be honest, Summoner was already insanely powerful in that regard if you knew what you were doing. Dialing back on the AoE damage doesn't feel like a bad thing. If anything I'm more concerned about their AoE damage being entirely from ability usage. With the absence of Blizzard II and Miasma II, along with Shadow Flare being converted into an ability with a 60 second timer, Summoner is absent of any spell that inherently does AoE damage. But at least with Aethertrail stacks no longer having a timer you can be more liberal with ability usage.
Also I seem to notice mixed information being thrown around? For example, according to this video, which showcases tooltip information for actions and traits, Deathflare is shown with its 400 potency retained and no downward scaling. Akh Morn is shown to scale down to 50% potency in the same fashion as Holy or Flare, but with a starting potency of 680. So at its worst it will scale down to 340 for any targets beyond the forth. And Akh Morn can be used twice every time you summon Demi-Bahamut. But as I mentioned, there seems to be conflicting information from different sources which makes it difficult to know what is accurate.

I haven't seen anyone mention the fact that there have been no Aethertrail timers shown in any videos. So no more worrying about bosses going invulnerable and your AT stacks dropping. Just learn the fight and hold your DWTs as needed.
Also haven't seen any mention of Bane's chance to reset the DoT timers when used.

Low level theorycrafting, but:
DWT only has a 20 second cooldown now, so opening a fight we can Tri-Disaster > spend 3 stacks > DWT > Tri-Disaster again > Spam Ruin III > Deathflare (15s cooldown now) > blow 3 more stacks > DWT > Tri-Disaster again > Spam Ruin III > Deathflare > Summon Bahamut > Akh Morn > do stuff > Akh Morn all within 60 seconds.


RIP Contagion, you will be missed. They are really going heavy on these damage fall off AOE moves aren't they? im seeing a bunch of moves worked around this.

If you're referring to the additional effect: 15% chance that Bio, Bio II, and Miasma duration resets if shorter than original effect duration, that's because it's already in the game. It's been that way since 2.0.
