Yeah I have to agree with you here, thumbs up, Yoshi is really pulling through, he is doing an awesome job as the producer/directorReally good interview! ^.^
Very good questions!. He did disclose too much info on Primals Summoning! Hah!. And I hope Square-Enix sees the communication Yoshida is having with us is, in-part, what has made us believe in SE again and gladly pay fees for this game, besides the point that the game is really fun now ^^.
Anyway, hope this engine allows Dragoon to have his Jump.
Wow, thank you so much for that interview!
That is, on several levels, one of the best interviews I've read yet.
Some great questions were asked.. Awesome answers were given; there was more new info in that interview than I've seen in most any interview to date since 2.0's announcement. Some very, very interesting information.
I love how direct and engaging Yoshi-P and Sundi are regarding the lag issue. I mean, I'm sure I don't need to remind people how that question would have been fielded or - more accurately - dodged, were it with many other developers. It would have been "Oh yes... Lag... Yes.. we are aware of that... Mmhmm... Oh look at these shiny new graphics!".
Not here. It's "Okay, we know it's an issue, we want to narrow down and identify exactly where/how the issue is occurring, please provide us info so we can address it". Awesome.
I really don't think people have to worry too much about FFXIV becoming "the next WoW", nor "FFXI-2" for that matter. There was a *lot* of elements revealed in that interview that I've either seen very seldomly, or not at all in other MMOs. How they pan out is another thing, of course... but that these are the things they're planning and the direction they're going in... Awesome.
Also.. With every interview, I come to admire Yoshi more and more. The man is just freaking cool as hell. No other way to put it. Nice to see Sage Sundi as well; always enjoyed his interactions regarding FFXI.

From what was said it seems that the actual class of Summoner will be the one to summon lesser creatures to aid them while the Primals will remain as a sort of Shenron like entity of mass power but you can only use it once. I do wonder how they'll balance it out though cause I can see it being interesting how only one free company can have a pact with a Primal at a time but will they put in a 1 week limit to how long they can hold the pact for. If they allow a Free company to hold it indefinitely there will definitely be the potential issue of people holding a primal just cause they can.
A great interview. My only real gripe is that the primal summoning system seems prime for trolling. What happens if a group collects the summons then just never uses them?
I hope there are:
a) a choice of neighbourhood landscape styles
b) a choice of housing styles
c) a similar level of decorating ability like in SWG
I assume it will be more similar to LOTR estates
My only concern is this will leave the NPC Hub Cities literally dead
Dude dresses like a badass. Wish I could show up to an interview looking like that.
That was my thought exactly. Makes more sense to me that it would be collectible by multiple LS and be less of a "king of the hill" deal.
They could also be limited to one Primal at a time. So if you have a linkshell event involving a Fire NM, you'll probably want to take control of Garuda, leaving the others open for whomever needs them.
Wow, thank you - That was my first interview, your words make me a really happy ElezenWow, thank you so much for that interview!
