I don't see where you got "maybe nine total jobs if we're lucky" out of anything Yoshida said.

He's said specifically in the past that there'd be multiple jobs coming from the same class. It's just not something that's going to be implemented right away.

I'll try to make my point a little more clear. I got the "nine jobs if we're lucky" part based on the assumption that along with the Paladin, Monk, Bard, Warrior, White Mage, Black Mage, and Dragoon, we were only going to see a Beast Tamer/Summoner job by time 2.0 hits after reading this interview- http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/2011/10...-is-out-there/

My concern was that if this is the case, based on how Yoshi made it sound, that we would only be seeing the 7 upcoming jobs and that 8th job in over a years worth of time, with none of the other traditional jobs making it into the game until past 2.0. I was trying to express my thoughts on the importance of Final Fantasy's jobs that have helped make the series successful, and worried that without key jobs like Thief, Red Mage, Blue Mage, Samurai, Dark Knight, Ninja, etc. the game will still feel incomplete by 2.0. Turning players off to the game.

@Yukikaze, It's repeated topics "like this" that show SE how badly a community actually wants something. Don't knock this whole thread as bad simply because I wanted to express my concerns myself. If you don't agree with what I stated, more power to ya, but I -did- check my info and it wasn't an "OMG we're not getting any more classes!" thread like you seem to be implying.

@Teakwood, You could argue that any jobs added from here on out are just extras (including the 7 being added now), since we already have a Tank class, Healer class, and Damage-Dealing class. But let's pretend we only had Lancers, Conjurers, and Marauders. Those fill the 3 main roles mentioned. Should Archer not have been added since the DD slot is already filled? A lot of players like bows, rather than spears, and if the game didn't have it SE would have lost a player to another MMO that does. What I'm mostly trying to say is that more jobs can have an impact on people returning to the game or wanting to play it. So if they could get them out sooner, it would only help the game in the long wrong, and I wanted to express my thoughts here in the hopes SE picks up on it.

@DNO, FFXI, by time it was released in the US, had 15 jobs. 6 base classes, sure, but still 15 nonetheless.

FF11 also did not have a huge make over in the works and was not free for a year. It also did not launch world wide and have the whole dev team actually change. Please understand this. FF11 is not in the same boat at ff14

and again ff14 has about 18 classes.
