So because my mom fell in the kitchen and I ran to help her I'm not allowed to go into the Novice Network for an entire week? Other than making me play on my alts who likely will help a lot less people in the meanwhile, there's not much that's going to come out of such an idea.
Why not ban the player for 90 minutes ?
If you really have an emergency, you won't care.
If you were dodging then you will have to stop ff14 for 90 minutes.

A penalty of that long incentivizes them to go for vote kicks, which includes disconnecting, or to force an abandon. Before you ask SE to do something about disconnects, know that it won't happen. They have no way of knowing which are fake or real and they err on the side of caution.
A harsher penalty for people that aren't breaking any rules will punish more 'good' mentors than bad and will push more people to cheese it (low-pop hours + language settings + two friends/alts + guildhest)
What about forcing roulette to draw the same instance when you restart a roulette without finishing the previous one ?
This way dodging is meaningless because you will get the same instance.

A sharp drop in Mentor roulette goers. Instance fatigue, where you keep getting the same thing day after day, is part of why even the more well behaved Mentors might quit a dungeon, as is ultimately their right. When it comes down to it, most suggestions for punishments will end up dissuading the Mentors who do want to help and queue for more than just the pony, compared to people who are only there for the mount.
The bottom line is, that if SE thought any of these punishment ideas was worthwhile, they would've already been implemented. But they have no motivation to further penalize their paying players, least of all people who, at the end of the day, volunteer for this. And something a lot of people in this thread seem to forget is exactly that - not all of us Mentors are complete jerkfaces, but we're the ones likelier to really be hurt by these things more than the people who just muck about for the pony.
1. Please don't cut all the content from my quote. My last suggestion does not penalize the mentor in any way.A sharp drop in Mentor roulette goers. 2. Stop doing roulette if you are tired and don't want to do it. It's nonsense and you are making trouble to other players.

I think the biggest problem with all of this is that y'all are forgetting that mentors are players just like you. They pay the same subscription and everything. If you plan to inflict harsher penalties for leaving, then it needs to apply to everyone, not just mentors. The main stipulation for being a mentor is being polite. Therefore the difference would be, if I were in something like Titan EX and we've wiped for 50 minutes because the healers keep dying to landslides or upheavals (true story), me saying "I'm sorry but I don't think this party can clear" and "y'all are fucking terrible. healers can't dodge and y'all can't follow simple instructions." Not every instance will be successful and usually you can tell in three pulls or less. I personally will stay awhile, but I definitely don't owe anyone the entire lockout.
Mentors like most people have limits to their patience and want to enjoy playing the game like everyone else. Please respect that.
Probably because people pay money to have fun in a video game and when you ban people for essentially no reason regardless of how long the ban is, they tend to get pissed and stop playing all together, resulting in a loss of money for SE.
