I always thought the gil transfer limit as to prevent one to go to a server to buy an item at a really low price and get back to his server to sell it higher. Like a "legal" way to use real money to make gil XD

If you have a standard account (not the basic), you could always create extra characters as needed and level them up enough to hire retainers (about 2-3 hours at most per character, most of it is just running around).

You'd need help of a 3rd party or company chest at each end to distribute/consolidate the money amongst your characters (and their retainers), but technically someone with 8 characters, each with 8 retainers, could now transfer 400 million in one go (8 characters with 10 million each and 64 retainers with 5 million each).

The transfer fee covers up to 8 characters on the same server so if you have the basic 2 retainers, 8 characters (and their 2 retainers each) would still be able to transfer a total of 160 million.

Just mentioning in case this is any help for you and you don't want to wait to see if they remove restrictions.

Only bad part is that you need to do the first 3 dungeons to unlock retainer if i'm not mistaken, but still a good way to transfer money.

When I got my retainers for my alts, it said I had up to the total retainers I already had available on my main which I purchased, so to my amazement, if you have 8 retainers on your main, your alts will too. This means with 8 characters and 8 retainers each, you get 64 retainers. 8 X 10 million is 80 million. 64 X 5 million is 320 million. 80 million + 320 million is 400 million.

Yes, the mogstation upgrade for more retainer is per account, not per character.

No they don't share at all, they each have their own retainers and unfortunately since you can't friend yourself you can't easily send yourself money/items except with the help of a 3rd party or a company chest.

But for a one time thing like transferring, the inconvenience could be worth it!
