DPS are meant to DPS. Healers are meant to heal.

Honestly I just hope all of stormblood has so much dmg flowing through even ordinary dungeons that there is no time for DPSing so people can shut up about it.

The only reason healers even have damage moves is so they can function in solo content, let's not repeat Bard from FFXI.

Which btw is a good thing to compare to. The playerbase in FFXI for lack of better word, ruined the playstyles of both summoner and ninja. Summoner, who natively had no healing spells, were typically pigeon-holed into healing through the white mage sub job. Their summons were usually pointless to keep out and drained MP, so instead, they simpled healed.

    It's a sad existence.
I wonder why they still let Second Wind and bloodbath on the DPS cross ability.
I mean, yeah, with healer who heal 100% of the time, why bothering taking that huh.
They are dpsing, leave the healing to healer ! Paladin, go away with that clemency of yours ! Your a tank !

The only problem I had with this argument is, no one kicked DPSes or Tanks over "not healing themselves".
Because that's just what the "Healer *MUST* DPS" faction's argument is.

And then there's also this argument : "But Tank also DPS even though it's not their main job." to that.... I could only say :
Could you do a dungeon run just by spamming Flash and Provoke? With a party of BLMs?

While I do DPS as a healer and actually loved playing a DPS Healer (since it feels good to out DPS lower iLv and/or casual DPSes).
I think people are being too harsh to healer who just wanted to heal.

Outside of oGCDs like Equilibrium, Bloodbath, and SW there's no way for a DPS to heal themselves and not lower the group's total DPS - which is the end goal, to do as much damage as possible so that the boss loses all it's HP. If a DPS healing themselves meant an increase in group DPS then they'd need to be held accountable for that.

The argument tends to be more "The tanks and the DPS both have to contribute DPS and constantly keep our GCDs rolling to contribute to the party, but a healer who only heals can spends minutes per fight literally just standing around".

This is honestly a non issue. All of these complaints are only found in the dungeon finder and if you simply must have a healer that heals and deals damage then probably best to put together a preformed group. Rare I heal but sometimes I just want to relax and grind a few tomestones without having to worry about stress of playing on all cylinders. Its basically the same when you see dps only pulling 70-80% of their classes potential abilities and most people consider expert roulette as casual content and for relaxing.

i found it way more enjoying to dps without cleric in low level dungeons pre 30 (i don't use cleric their because of the lack of regen and any emergency heals, while at the same time the dps without cleric isn't too bad) than the stance dancing later. so yeah, i will more dps. or i would, because i switched to tank because i didn't liked to stance dance and use more dps than healing skills. that wasn't what i signed up for.

I rarely see healers that do not dps, as i do myself when i heal.
The other night however, the one random healer thought it was more important to dps then heal.
I always had to use Mage's Ballad, and long story short i died as healer was not healing at all
So that in itself was more annoying then the healer not dpsing

I'll take a healer that does nothing but heal any day over one who he feels dps is paramount and rarely heals. Too many times have I watched people die because the healer felt they could finish off the mob and more unavoidable damage occurs and boom group wipes. There is nothing wrong with healers doing dps if they can heal and dps together. But healing is priority. I personally try to dps as much as I can when I heal. I like the play style. But I will do nothing but heal if the tank likes to super pull and refuses to use Cooldowns. Half the time the tank doesn't even have the mobs all face him and takes way more damage than he should because of not blocking/parrying.

You can't play any other role or job in this game "as you want" either, never could. All jobs are expected to use certain abilities in certain order and in certain cituations. It's not any more accepted to be an ice mage or a bard who only sings than it is to be a heal-only healer.

    Silly me !

Now that Cleric stance is not a thing anymore, will DPS start doing their job by following mecanics ?

This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.
