After my bad experience on low population servers, I'm never leaving Balmung. It's just not happening. It's locked until the populations stabilizes. That's going to rely on people actually leaving, which I'm sure plenty will; but there's also going to be a stubborn chunk (hopefully not majority, but maybe) that refuse to take advantage of the free transfers. It definitely won't open up when Stormblood launches, that would defeat the point of the lock; it could be a few weeks after, or it could be months.

Have your friend move to Odin. I've seen many on Balmung complaining about not being able to play with friends. Instead of whining about it, they could transfer to their friend's server, which if enough active players do, could help alleviate Balmung's population bloat.

I'm sure many people feel the same way (though I think it's irrational, personally, now that cross-server PF exists), therefore it will probably be a long time before it unlocks. But hey, the longer the better - that's fewer people that can get sucked into the "gotta be on THE highest pop server" black hole.

There is no apostrophe in Au Ra.
Stop adding one three years later.

Well if you're in it for looking for trouble, then I see it's easy for people like that to hide in a large population servers. Small servers tend to remember better.
Is it reset Tuesday yet.
I question whether I'm playing a PvE game with PvP mixed in, or I am I playing a PfG.
Are you in Europe? try out the latency first on NA servers... Create an alt on Mateus or something...

I'm on Hyperion, and there are PLENTY of people. Seriously, I don't get the obsession with Balmung's mammoth population. Yes, this game has some low-population servers, but it also has several medium-population servers that offer all the benefits of Balmung without any of the server instability, severe housing shortages, etc.

Mhm, most of them seem to have much stronger crafter oligopolies controlling the market board. For a non-crafter, that's a pretty big perk. That could of course be rectified by making the market board cross-server as well, but... said oligarchs would not be pleased. At all.
That aside... well, the only other reason I can think off the bat are friends that already are on it and RP. Mid/High populated servers seem lively enough, no need to go for Balmung in particular for that.

Not really a problem, usually about 5-6 specialists that work each item that tend to keep each other in check from what ive noticed. And aside from first month over-priced bloat most things get pretty reasonable pretty quick. The super small servers might have a bigger issue with this. If were being perfectly fair i think market players cause more of the pricing issues that crafters/gatherers/monster resource farmers, and usually thats with either mass buy mark-ups (tho as more of a first hand supplier this helps me usually), or massive mark-downs into levels below value to farm.Mhm, most of them seem to have much stronger crafter oligopolies controlling the market board. And realistically the 4-6k stable pop servers likely wont be destinations, and quite frankly we don't need it. The goal will likely be more to get the 3.5 or less servers a few thousand actives and get at least a stable small population on the new servers so new players can have a somewhat functioning server when they arrive.

It will open once they can get control of the server population
My friend would do it.Have your friend move to Odin. I've seen many on Balmung complaining about not being able to play with friends. Instead of whining about it, they could transfer to their friend's server, which if enough active players do, could help alleviate Balmung's population bloat.
