Is it possible the numbers have changed that much since that date? Not arguing or being sarcastic, I just don't know and you seem to is all.In case anyone read my post and thought I was pulling the numbers out of my ass.

Its old, and they may have changed that since, but this is the last known number direct from the devs, at least that I have seen.
Unlikely, but its possible. Would explain the constant locking of several servers, and the extreme locking of Balmung and Gilgamesh.
well first hardware upgrade since those numbers if it was a physical and not program issue.
Honestly I felt like I knew they were upgraded in the move to California but maybe that is just an assumption on my part. Was there any mention of new more powerful servers?
From what they said, it was for expansion and reliability, the old datacenter was going overvoltage, resulting in outages and issues. They may be able to expand the number of concurrent logins per server, but as of the lodestone post regarding the locking of transfers to balmung and gilgamesh, expect heavy login queues for the expansion.
Its also not only about the power of the server, but how much network traffic it can handle. Just think of rush hour in any major city, even with 4-6 lane highways, it goes bumper to bumper with slow speeds.

No mention but if the game keeps growing we might get lucky. Right now it looks like they have enough to meet demand except over on the EU datacenter where all worlds are reasonably populated and even they got one locked.
1 isn't an option. Waiting for 2 to happen for who knows how many months or years is detrimental to the RP community. The solution is not another unofficial RP server that will collapse or devolve into little more than 10-50 person clique spread out over 2-3 FCs.
There are two solutions to this issue:
(1) RP is consolidated on one hub - Balmung; OR
(2) RP is consolidated on one hub - Official RP server.
So no. Please wake up, you're dreaming.
They have upgraded infrastructure at least 5-6 times since that post, hence why Balmung has been able to host over 20k players according to player census.
Player census might be unreliable in telling the total number of players, but its not unreliable at all in telling a minimum number of active players, meaning that if you take the marging of error of player census Balmung could be close to the 30k players now.
thats characters, not players. Rpers themselves are always talking about how many alts they have on balmung. They have upgraded infrastructure at least 5-6 times since that post, hence why Balmung has been able to host over 20k players according to player census.

You only count as active if there's a change in your lodestone, I imagine characters with the sole purpose of RPing wouldn't have many changes.
Besides many of you keep saying that Balmung is more than RP and RP is not a big part of the server.
