omg why did you revive this old thing... stahppppp!!! lol![]()
Seriously? There have been quotes from Yoshi P, analysis of the Ivalice timeline, comparisons between FFT and FFXII, explanations of the lore of Ivalice, not just by me but by those who agree with me. Yoshi P doesn't like Viera, hasn't put a race in Stormblood, and we know that races take a massive of work to put in, on top of that we know that the new raid will be based on the original FFT and will have to have some grounding in Eorzea lore. If you want the sources, the numbers and the research, it has all been posted in this thread, go back and find it.
Oh, and the poll that you keep referencing was put forth towards 1.0 players, that's how long ago it was, the truth is that we no longer have any clue how popular the race is.
Whatever information you want to pick and choose from to fit your ideas doesn't concern me, but I know that come 4.1 there will be threads saying "Wheres Viera?"

Do you know how long a census lasts? It lasts 10 years. Scientific polls have validity for a long period of time. That's why they are scientific, they poll a large pool of what FF fan is and that doesn't change year to year. That only gradually changes year to year. Please do some research on what scientific polls mean. Furthermore, there was a more recent poll done on reddit where the majority would play them http://www.strawpoll.me/4210217/r . Adding a race is made years in advance. Doing a poll last year/this year would get in the way of their story/blueprint. So that poll was relevant for the years they were considering the next race (2015-2016). A poll for 2017 wouldn't allow them to plan ahead.
Your FFT/FFXII comparison was already proven false since they exist in A and A2. Yoshi-P preferred au ra over viera, that doesn't mean he doesn't like them. At the end of that au ra/viera discussion he said "however if you want another race please let us know" so he's not 100% against them. Do I have to find that quote again?
The work it takes to add a new race doesn't matter to Yoshida. He already asked us to let him know which race we want in the future.
You have no sources left, they were already proven false.
The community for 4.0 is largely different to the community of 1.0, we are playing a very different game. This isn't an issue of census rules, and this isn't a scientific poll. The fact of the matter is that the landscape of this game has changed drastically since 1.0 to the point where you could say that this is a completely different game. As for the straw poll, it has 500 responses, hardly an adequate number to gauge anything.
Also, I don't remember the FFT comparison proven false, A and A2 are very different games, that don't share themes with the original. If Yoshi P was looking at those games he would have specified.
I'm getting deja vu from this discussion, and you will continue to pick and choose your facts, and I can't stop that. I'm going to drop it because ultimately it doesn't matter, you can live with your ideas and I can live with my research.
The population in a scientific way hasn't changed. Let's say there were 1.5 million subscribers in 2013 (near the official poll) and let's say there are 3 million subscribers now. Scientifically you get the same kind of people (many of the same type of people). The FF fan categories don't change just because you add more people. It gradually changes but not form 1 polar opposite (plurality wanted viera) to a polar opposite of they're one of the least wanted races. The community for 4.0 is largely different to the community of 1.0, we are playing a very different game. This is what you're proposing and is scientifically and factually wrong.
I can tell you never took any statistics classes in school. I advice you to take them.
FFT A and A2 are part of the FFT series so you cannot say 100% that they won't be part of Return to Ivalice unless you're Yoshida himself.
This is the second time you've tried to pass factually wrong information as if it was fact. Even when I quote Yoshida himself asking us to show support for the next race.
I'm glad you finally realized that your "facts" are nothing more than attempts to get into Yoshida's mind and interpret what he didn't say.
You know, I don't think I remember them ever complaining about the work it took to put Au'ra in. Not putting a new race in Stormblood wasn't some indication that they are more work than they're worth.Seriously? If you've played WoW at all (the game YoshiP largely drew inspiration from to revamp this one), blizzard has kept a kinda rotation going in regards to race/class for expansions, rotating them every other xpac. Exceptions being the panda xpac, which blizz has expressed regret towards them, and WoD xpac, which had neither and was the worst xpac of WoW's history.
Anyways, the thing that ran them ragged in Heavensward wasn't adding a new race, it was putting in 3 new jobs at the same time and all the balancing nightmares it gave them. Given they were heals, tank, and dps as well. I fully expect them to add a new race in 5.0, whether that race is Viera or not well, who knows.
I'm split on this.
I don't really have any huge problems with Viera, but at this point, the playerbase is practically foaming at the mouth to have them added to the game, despite the fact there have been many statements made indicating they have no desire to add Viera at this time. The absolute aggressive tenacity with which some players demand Viera is kind of putting me off the idea of ever seeing them added at this point. I have a feeling if they did get added, there'd be mountains of complaints about them if they don't look right, and there's so much hype built up around them now it's silly.
The way players can behave when someone says they don't want Viera added is pretty unfortunate as well.
maverwyn.com for more of my art!
The way players can behave when someone says they do want Viera added is pretty unfortunate as well. The posts filled with mocking dismissal and just generally talking down to them is not exactly a great setup for polite debate.I'm split on this.
