Mateus has an extremely healthy leaf population. One of the healthiest I've seen on any server. In my ~9 months on Mateus, wards that were previously empty have filled up.
So while they aren't being used yet, they certainly are being bought by Mateus natives. Yes, that is compounding a housing problem, even if our turnover rate is decent.

Also probably buying them all up with alts just means planning to sit on them so you can sell if there's ever actually a surge of players looking for housing.
At least that's the impression I get from that.
I mean if the alt is lvl 50, has the gil, I see no issue with it. There's someone who moved over with all of their gil to pick up the last mansion in Lavender Beds. If nobody's using it in the first place, I don't see the issue. Besides, if they like it enough they might move their mains?
...Why would someone want to move when they've already got a house, after all?
Larges are constantly filled on Mateus. That one was likely auto-demolished quite recently. We recently had two mansions demolished in separate wards of Goblet and they were snatched up within 24 hours.I mean if the alt is lvl 50, has the gil, I see no issue with it. So yes, an alt just took a mansion someone actually playing on Mateus could have used. Mansions are in high demand here; they are absolutely being used. You've probably never spent prolonged time on this server.

They're in high demand everywhere. Literally everywhere. No pity.Larges are constantly filled on Mateus. That one was likely auto-demolished quite recently. We recently had two mansions demolished in Goblet and they were snatched up within 24 hours.

...And if they're ON the server, who are you to say whether or not they're active enough? I think the 45 day reclaim timer is the only one who can sort that 'activity' thing out.
That's not the argument you're trying to make though.
You're trying to argue that because the houses are open they're not being used and therefore it doesn't matter if alts from other servers get them. I highly disagree because on Mateus Larges are being used. and they are in demand. So that is compounding the housing problem, when you claim it is not.
I don't disagree with the premise of alts having houses, however (it would make me a hypocrite). I just believe that people actually playing frequently on Mateus should have them.
Almost all of the large houses I saw on Mateus are personal houses, which, a LOT of people would argue are wasted that way. Most people would agree that anything above a small should be fc only. How's four people using a large better than an FC using it?That's not the argument you're trying to make though.

I honestly don't see an issue with people from Balmung going to Mateus and buying the houses that aren't being used. I think it's silly to 'save the houses' for 'Maetus only' people. RPers spend a lot of time in their houses, I'm pretty sure they will see more use than some pver who only uses it for a cheap teleport.
I'm also going to add that people on Mateus had literal YEARS to get to these plots, same as anyone on any other server. If they don't have the gil for it, they don't have the gil for it. Why get upset when someone who has the means gets the house? It IS definitely silly to be upset that someone's alt got something that isn't seeing use. It should sit there and gather dust? Because ...?

:::Raises skeptical eyebrow:::
By what measure?
I began my sojourn in ARR, on Mateus, a couple of months after launch. Mateus was a ghost town. Tumbleweeds. Winds moaning through empty streets. Seeing the occasional other player, in Ul'dah, after midnight Central Time, was a shock and a pleasure.
I subsequently skipped to Gilgamesh for a few years; retired briefly; and rejoined - heading straight to Balmung, *because* of the high, and wonderfully chaotic, population.
I love being able to hit the streets of Ul'dah at any hour, and find crowds of people in the Quicksand, the Ruby Road Exchange, and the Aetheryte Plaza at Limsa. The "crowd" in the major population centers is what I expect from an MMO. PEOPLE. PEOPLE everywhere, at all hours! And they <gasp> TALK TO EACH OTHER instead of constantly running, running to their next destination.
I find nothing unhealthy about the robust and interaction-heavy population.
Wherefore do ye?
Talk about a high horse.Almost all of the large houses I saw on Mateus are personal houses, which, a LOT of people would argue are wasted that way. Most people would agree that anything above a small should be fc only. How's four people using a large better than an FC using it?

I hope most RPers don't have this attitude.
