Transfer Restrictions and Roleplayers

Roleplayers have been asking for a RP-designated server since the 1.0 beta. We were told that SE was unlikely to listen to our desires, that Japan didn't really have much of an understanding of RP and that we had to create our own solution. So we did. We picked Besaid, which later became Balmung when 1.0 flopped hard and it was merged with another server.

When 2.0 launched to breathe the breath of life into the game, we asked for the same. A designated RP server so that our community would know where to go if we wanted to RP. Surprise, we weren't listened to again and didn't get one. Most instead remained on Balmung while the 'new' RPers (those who wanted a fresh start with a new economy rather than 'old money') went to Gilgamesh. Clearly that didn't work out in the end due to a variety of factors... but the main one was because the RP community was divided and Balmung had a larger, healthier and more established name and RP community. Lesson learned: dividing the community is bad for roleplayers and will fracture it.

Now we're being told that this problem was caused by us, that it's all our faults and that (in the opinion of some people) we should leave the place that we've established roots; for some of us, those roots go 7+ years deep.

And yet, all of this could have been avoided if SE would have given us a RP tag at the end of a server from the start, whether that was 1.0 or 2.0. So yes, I would agree that at least some of this 'blame' is on SE for not listening to some of its longest-standing members and most dedicated players.

Balmung wasn't merged with anything, Balmung was the result of two other servers being merged together. Fabul + Besaid

That's... exactly what I said. Besaid became Balmung when Besaid and another server (as you said, Fabul) were merged.

Well what you meaning and how it was typed I don't see as the same thing. The way I see it when I read it is "besaid became balmung which was later merged with another server"

The 'it' in the sentence you quoted was referring to Besaid, not to Balmung, because prior to that I was speaking about Besaid and did not feel the need to reiterate that. I'm sorry you were confused by my wording.
