"Look forward to it....3 years later still nothing"Hello everyone,
Apologies for the long maintenance and making you concerned for your gardens.
In the future there is a possibility that we conduct maintenance for extended periods, and while the plans haven’t been completely fleshed out just yet, the development team is looking into countermeasures so that nothing happens to your gardens during the server down time.

They warned us even before that.
Why not plan accordingly to avoid this? SE gave plenty of time and common sense, at least in my perspective, kind of tells you maintenance periods can be unpredictable at times. They gave plenty of warning, and if players still choose to gamble it should be on them -.-. Sorry if it offends some people, I kind of focus on logical perspectives rather then emotional.

Would be nice if it was adjusted, just pause the gardens or some such. Wont effect players that often but it feels a bit silly. Or.. give me a moogle I can train to keep my stuff from dying.. Oh did I say I want a moogle? :P
We knew this was coming for weeks. My gf finished up the crops she had before maintenance and didn't plant more.
As this person said
Plus I know least for me 5/8 (a week before) every time I logged in it shoved the notice in my face telling me about the upcoming server move maintenance and had to click the ok button to continue on.http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...b441ea1f36bc6a

I watered my gardens before servers went down. Logged in to half having withered. I'm actually quite a bit upset. I'd have hoped that gardens would have been frozen or something. Also, apparently, my shared estate setting was destroyed and I had to set it back up to take care of the other section of my crops. No idea why that would happen.
I had some plants that survived this maintenance. I made sure to tend to them about fifteen minutes before we went offline. When I got back on this morning they were purple with the stink lines, but they did survive.
Hope is for the hopeless. It's a nice dream yet this issue has been going on for a very long time.
Unfortunately, I didn't have an estate when this was first brought up *looks at the thread date* so I wasn't even really aware it was an issue. I should have known better. For how rare it is to have maintenance take more than 24 hours, that's probably why it's been dropped or forgotten. That and gardens don't wither [read: die] in a span of 24 hours either. Supposedly, in guides they say it takes 72 hours for a garden to die. RIP due to misinformation.
