The FFXIV team has been terrible at addressing the RMT/bot scene. Those "actions taken against RMT" monthly notices will never mean squat when we still encounter spammers every second of every hour near the market boards.

It took them three years to implement a simple RMT reporting sub-menu, but without going the distance of being able to resolve them right away.

What happens after a bot is reported? We get a message about how we won't get a f'in reply. Then we are left with three choices: continue to get hit with the same spam forever, blacklist the bot, or go somewhere else.

When a bot is reported, the bot should be placed in a temp blist until the SE Police does something, and then be auto-removed from said list when the account is banned.

Square Enix has been terrible at addressing RMT/bot scene. Fixed it, because the problem was even worse in FFXI. The RMT they do remove are back right away because Squeenix won't ban IPs or CC numbers, and plus bots are still paying customers, so there's that

Unpopular opinion incoming, but the best solution is to drive them out of business.

When I played WoW, I saw gold sellers take a nosedive (at least on my server) when they introduced the WoW Token. It's a way for one player to spend gold on game time, by buying a token that another player bought with real money. Basically buy someone else a month of sub time and they pay you in gold. The market is automatically regulated by Blizzard, no player involvement at all. Gold isn't generated, it's only transferred from one player to another.

People cry about it all the time for dumb reasons, but it really did a number on gold sellers. If someone wants to buy gold, so to speak, they get sub tokens and do it that way. It's legal, so there's no risk. It meant that the gold sellers had to drop their prices to stupidly low levels, because they lost their business.

    .

TERA did this too. But then again, they never really had a problem with gold sellers either. I have no idea if Enmasse has some kind of secret sauce or whatever but I'd take a page out of their playbook in that regard when it comes to RMT and spammers.

I haven't played TERA in years, but iirc there was never really a need to buy gold since you could just sell almost anything from the store for in-game currency

I play on Gilgamesh and only notice the spammers in the early morning. People grossly exaggerate the issue. I don't disagree that I wish more would be done, but it's such a minor inconvenience for me in the grand scheme of things I would complain about within FFXIV
