Why do Archers suck so bad against Ifrit?

I have to agree, it's sad how little damage Bloodletter does now. Even if it hits, that's not much damage done and it's all down to whether or not it successfully tacks on the DoT effect. If this doesn't apply, then you've essentially wasted your weaponskill to do meager damage. But I'm curious, what is it that increases the probability of it landing? Also if there's any archers (Not lancer, maurader, pugilist, etc.) that's faced Ifrit as archer and won, can you give any pointers or tips on how to face him? I've been pumping in alot of dexterity materia and strength materia into my gear. I have almost 281 or so dexterity as a 50 Archer now.

I haven't beat him yet, but I can provide a suggestion: don't stack STR and DEX boosts. Stack things like Attack power instead. More bang for your buck.

We've actually down right banned Archer from our runs and any future possible recruits for the time being. We've parsed it a lot and even mage DPS beats it lol, which is pathetic and terribly sad since mage DPS is strictly bound to CD's and MP for their damage. The only thing we haven't tested is a Ifrit's Bow + geared materia on Ifrit, but I doubt that'll make them magically gain 4-5k more dmg for the fight.

Ouch... harsh much? Glad I'm not on your server. Looks like my alternative is to finish Pugilist to 50 then and wish for the best. I refuse to level lancer to 50 just to do some endgame content for a bow...

Does the parser reads bloodletter's damage?

the parser is a lie
on my linkshell, with 3 lnc parsering at the same time with the same filters their parsers got all different results.

Reminds me when Ranger used to be overpowered in FF11 and they hit them hard with the nerf bat too.

Hopefully with the upcoming skill changes and job system they will balance out the damage across all class a bit more evenly, I just pray to god they don't screw blackmage over.

And thats the funny thing in any other mmo out there mage classes are generally the top DPSers, SE need to get their priorities in check and start making mage classes matter.

mages do matter. we all need to know a good healer. archers not so much. i'll take jesus over robin hood any day of the week

When I say mages I obviously mean DPS mages not healing ones.
