Ummmm, no. The only hardcore thing about this all is it would be really hardcore to resist the urge to uninstall the game. Adding levels of tediousness does not make something hardcore. It just saps any fun away. That and I'd rather see them spend the money and time developing things the game needs. Not waste it on a special rules set server that is more or less going to be a ghost town.
This was a thing in 1.0 at the start, but why stop there? Also make it so there was no market board again and we all would have to manually go through each ward and click on each of the retainers hoping to find what we were looking for. Did that in 1.0 and trust me when I say it was NOT fun.
But standing in fresh water for too long would mean an increasing 2% chance per Eorzean hour of a giant level 99 shark picking up on your scent and insta killing you. Spending lots of time in Coerthas and Thanalan too would be near fatal too. Pesky hypothermia, heat stroke, frostbite debuffs (modifiers to increase the allowed time in these zones included on special clothing like warm fuzzy coats) Getting five stacks of each means your character collapses and for one real life week anytime you log in all you see is a never ending unskippable cut scene of your character sitting in one of the healing pools at Bronze Lake with a catatonic facial expression while attendants try to get your character to drink that special mulled wine with a 5% chance at the start to actually drink it, 95% chance the wine dribbles out their mouths and down their shirt. The chance to drink the wine increases as the week nears its end.

It's not about rl being miserable. I wouldn't change my RL for all the tea in China. HOWEVER, if I have to do the same chores in a game that I do in RL I may as well just unsub and do them irl where there is a tangible reward.

I tried to play "The Word" but now I'm stuck there and cannot logoff. Any help appreciated.

Too casual, no permadeath.
(Seriously most of these are more annoying, trivial things and not really something I'd expect under "hardcore" and more like "realistic.")
But all Black Desert amounts to is a 3D Maple Story.
Yeah, I came into the topic expecting something about harder gameplay and instead saw a list of QoL changes to make the game more of a pain in the butt to play. It would be extremely annoying and boring.

All these ideas are fail... just bring back a true Game over. That's all you need. What is a true game over? Play any sega/Nes game with no continues and watch what happens.

People are taking this thread way too serious holy crap lol. Everyones no effort game won't be changing anytime soon!

And what do you think is "fun" content other than dodging aoes and doing organized memory dances on bosses to win?
This is pretty clever. It gives players a new way to experience the game, especially for those who think the midcore content is too easy. Savage mode is made for 8 players, and is strictly singles to one type of play style, raiding (which means trial and error and memory game)
Adding mechanics that give your character things to worry about could be more engaging. The hunger meter effecting my gear would be weird though. Debuffs could give more visual effects like actually being blinded with stuff covering the screen, your character suddenly bawling when misery is casted on you etc. Enemy mobs can no longer have follow limits as they can follow you anywhere in a zone (besides towns and other zones).
It'd have to be generally different than what we already have. Making enemies hit harder is a very poormans version of effort for a "hardcore" mode. More hp is just the same. It just takes longer and THAT is tedious. If enemies hit harder then that just means I need a tank or healer with me 24/7 and thats a pain in itself, I won't be able to get anywhere regardless of how much food I have stocked! (also it'd be funny if inventory items could drop upon death lol, actually make that thing. Yeshhhh)
To make it fair if enemies get a damage boost, don't force players to work together but make it funner or rewarding like removing potion cool downs so players can heal themselves faster in the over world since things are harsher.
Also if your adding a tired effect, allow players to counter it by drinking or eating caffeinated items like coffee and stuff. Or give a rest feature in towns so players can re-gain some points when traveling long distances. Dare me to say, if they remove DUTY FINDER (Gasping and expletives ensues) Shut your mouths! this is for fun! XD We'd be walking allll the way to those dungeons.
And that's all I got on this. Fun brainstorming X)

I already tried (nothing new or innovative) all that stuff in older MMO's/private Neverwinter Nights servers, it's add nothing to the experience or increase the challenge and is just boring time sinks.
Food/Water? Overstock your inventory and get annoyed with those "you are angry/tired" because time passes faster than in real life (RPers would love this one), also is especially pointless because Eorzea is not an apocalyptic world where resources are limited.
Traveling? Nothing more fun than wait 15m (or more, can't remember) at the starport! Hell, I remember needing like 30m or so if I were unlucky at SWG because of this (god bless JTLS expansion). Tell, how enhanced is going to be your experience by adding up to an hour of waiting doing nothing?
XP Lost? Well, you better have with you a different set if you lose a level while doing a raid.
Item Lost or item decay? This one work for a sandbox where all items are made by crafter and, with a few exceptions, are easy to craft\cheap. For this game is GL HF.
For a single player that stuff it's ok because you will be playing that game an X amount of time (and even in those games after a certain point of character grow those mechanics become a minor concern), but after a played time of a month... nope. Also there it makes sense, like buying enough supplies for a big travel, having the proper gear for certain weathers because again is one or two times only.
Anyway OP if you really want to experience a true "hardcore" mode I recommend you to try old games like "Realm of Arkania", Fallout 4 survival mode is a joke compare to that.
And what's it's fun for me? The more complex and interactive an encounter is the better (however FFXIV is a point and click game with all their limitations). Other than that will be an old sandbox MMO with a lot of social interaction but those days are long gone and I don't enjoy open PvP world at this point.
