Why are you playing as your race / gender combination?

I play male, because I am male. Easy as that.

I originally played a Highlander, because it was the most human like with a good beard and older mean face. I was one for 2 years, then switched to Elezen when my wife joined as a Elezen. I wanted to create the perfect loverboy for my wife's character, while maintaining the similar style that I had from my original Highlander. I do miss my Highlander and created a younger version alt. Then I began to experiment with Midlander & Hellsguard and made alts as well, because I ended up liking their look as well. Other than that, it's because I like how my creation looked as that race. I will also add that Highlanders are my favorite.

Because I hate furry races, Lalas are just too creepy, Roes are too large, Midlanders look either kids or meth addicts. Au Ra clip too much and I dislike their head shapes.
In the end only Highlanders looked like something I could play even if they have their own weird characteristics like the weird nose shape which is similar to Roegadyn's. But hey this is Eorzea. Weird is mainstream.

I hopped around a lot when i first started, i started as a female midlander because, coming from wow, i wanted something relatable to play (and the fem midlander model is oddly close to the female human model in wow). Dozens of fantasias later, i finally settled on male miqo'te when we got Nine's hair, it was the only thing they were missing to make me enjoy them.

Male Elezen

Elezen: So I my first race was a Au Ra that was nice then Highlander->Lalafell->Roe->Au Ra then I one day decided to go Elezen and man I havent used a Fantasia again. Lanky running animation/wonky emotes/long neck I can look past sure they are off putting but I dont have to put up with Horn/Tails clipping through my armor,having "normal" looking eyebrows,and they are tall without standing out too much. Certain Glamours that just look "right" on a Elezen where the same glamour would look awkward on a midlander or very dumb with the Male Au Ra's child bearing hips >_> sometimes the long neck actually accommodates the armor piece and makes it look okay. And of course because of the off putting nature that makes certain players not want to play elezen we dont have the problem of *cough* same face highlanders *cough* same face Au Ras that other races do huehuehue

2) what about the chin? My character looks quite different ingame, compared to my forum avatar

When I 1st played the game I played a male Midlander, then a Miqo'te, followed by a Highlander and then an Au Ra and now a Highlander again.

I chose male Highlander mostly for the facial scruff, although the physique was a big plus too.
