So I can scream LALALA fell in discord at my friends and punch their characters in the kneecaps. My only regret is that clothes don't look that great on chubby potatos.. but hey, you can't have it all.

Sorry for the double post but being on a mobile device sucks.
It is called exaggeration. Naturally, being the filthy degenerate that I am, my toxic male gaze violates my character everywhere. From multiple angles.

I always laugh about this. You can play whatever you want for whatever reasons you want, but if you're staring at your character's ass while running around you're playing wrong.
When Im idle though I turn the camera to my character's front and wonder why her boobs get two cup sizes smaller with any kind of clothing on ._.

Female/Au Ra/Xaela
I play as a female because I enjoy projecting as one. It's kind of catfishing but I abstain from taking advantage of people and don't actually go making relationships being relatively straight and all. Also character admiring/violating(?). Au Ra because the face type is exactly what I've always wanted. Kind of like a fierce look but with a tinge of cuteness in it, easiest resting female dog face of my life. The demon/dragon motiff I enjoy alot and having horns is something I've always wanted. Would've preferred more devil-like horns(pointing upwards, hence the placeholder red Bunny Crown) but am fine with the frontal facing ones. Was previously a Highlander because of similar reasons(fierce warrior woman) especially the strong, carved by angels body(sigh) but the faces were something that I couldn't get to a satisfactory level. Don't get me wrong, theres a certain appeal of a more matured beauty and I've seen some super fine highladies but its the slight youthful asian look I adore from my au ra that made me switch.

Male Au Ra. Why? Well mostly cuz I think he looks cool. And because of rp. And I'm a woman RL and want to play something that is as far from being me as possible. But this topic wants us to be in depth, so man am I gunna go in depth. Either grab yourself a snack or scroll to the next post, cuz this ain't gunna be short.
So. Male. When I first started playing mmos, it was that super popular mmo that supposedly everyone played. (Turns out, not everyone, but close enough.) And I made a BUNCH of characters all based upon original characters I'd made for a book I was going to write, but never did. The majority of them were elves, but that's not overly important.
However, as far as actual gameplay outside of rp goes, I played mostly male characters, and it boiled down to one little detail with female characters that really put me off.
The weapons shrunk.
Seriously. I could be playing my male paladin with a great sword equipped and it looked fine. Then I'd switch to my female warrior, equip the same sword, but it's size ended up closer to a freaking one handed blade! What's up with that? I mean, sure, the character model was smaller, so it stands to reason that the sword would get smaller too, but not so much that it's no longer a great sword surely?
Since then, playing male characters kind of stuck. I came to XIV and recreated one of my elf characters as closely as I could with an elezen and was perfectly content.
Fast forward a year and a bit, fan fest happens and the Au Ra are announced, and I'm taken back to the days when I was about 13 years old and making crappy OCs. I had one who was a sort of half dragon, patches of scales on his face and shoulders and torso etc, horns, tail... you can see where this is going. (He had wings too, and really, he was an awful character, but I was 13, of course he was awful!) But despite how bad this character was, he'd stuck with me over the years and grew and developed in ways that he didn't look anywhere near like he originally did.
But when I saw the Au Ra, the nostalgia hit was there, and I new instantly that I'd fantasia into one on release day. Did some brainstorming with my friends to make it work in rp and that's that. I've been male Au Ra ever since.
I did buy a couple of fantasias a while back and loaded up my old elezen appearance, but I've just gotten so used to the Au Ra's animations and voice that playing elezen just felt wrong. Think I only lasted 2 hours before I switched back.
And that's my story, we now return your regular scheduled forum content.

Male Miqo'te. Why? Because I like their body proportions and they have 2 really good face options. I would have gone Midlander Hyur but none of their face options really jump out at me. I also think the Miqo'te males are the most attractive males and (with the right customization choices) strike the perfect balance between masculine and pretty as far as my taste goes. Male Miqo'te also have great emotes and their starter outfit body slot is one of the best in the game IMO. It's a great option when you want to not wear one of the bajillion pseudo-dresses casters typically get stuck with.
Unfortunately, Elezen (male and female) have strange body proportions, particularly their heads being too small for their bodies so they are out. Highlander Hyur males have 2 decent face options and can be nice to look at but don't feel right for my character. Au Ra males can be handsome but get a bit too lost in their demonic (yes demonic, not draconic) features unlike the females whose horns are smaller. Having the horn style tied to face option also limits their customization. Roe males are just too beefy and Lala's too childlike for my taste.

How many men am I involved with? Well that depends... do you mean men as in males? Or just midlanders?

Visual appeal maybe? I normally run around as a female miqo'te because they happen to be just that. otherwise I'm a highlander because they're a good tanking race and i happen to like the top right face style on females. I did spend some time as an Au Ra, but stopped because i didn't like the horns being tied to the face shape. i tried elezen for a bit, didn't really like the appearance options. i tried lala for an hour and wanted to kill myself. roe just never really appealed to me. I actually started as a midlander because...reasons (sheepishly gestures at name), but i don't like the face options either.

Because Midlander M A S T E R R A C E.
